Course Reflection
Translation studies is a knowledge that make us easier to translate some texts, so we could
understand its well. Initially, I did not know how to translate a certain text correctly, but after
studying translation studies with you, Mr. Rizki, a lecturer in my class, honestly, I get such a new
knowledge. First, I get new knowledge about the history of translation. Before studying this subject, I
did not know the history of translation. Moreover, the history says that there are some people got
dead penalty just because they did wrong translation. This occurrence was surprised me. Second, it
is about realia. This topic is the attractive one for me. Before studying this topic with you, I used to
get some problems, whether I should maintain, describe, or even delete to translate a certain word.
Third, translation shift. This is also the important topic that I get since so many translation texts use
this method. Fourth, these are about color and directions. As I thought before, all world people has
the same assumption and name for colors and direction. However, in some areas or countries, they
have different name for certain colors, such as Maduranish, Korean, and European. They have blue
for green and some colors that does not exist in others.
Translation studies subject supervised by Mr. Riski in my class, I say thank to you. In my
opinion, you taught us very well. All the topics and materials delivered clearly and understandable
easily. Your explanation always in line of materials and never out of materials. I like it. However, yet,
the challenges that you gave to me was not enough just with three assignments along in a semester.
But the point was that I really agreed with you because of the clearness of your description of your
subject. Here, I have something for betterment of translation class. In order to make students more
active than before, give extra assignments for them, but over all, you are one of the best lecturer I
ever had.
My expectation for this subject of translation studies supervised by you, Mr. Riski, is grade A.
It is because of some reasons. First, I always did all the assignments you gave to me. Although it was
a group assignments, I always be active and did as far as I could. Second, I always aware of your
explanation and be concern on your explanation. Third, I really understand all the materials you
delivered to me as well. Furthermore, it is likely to continue for me that I will take the concentration
of translation studies in the next semester. It will be fun class for me if I can meet you again in the
next translation class of the next semester.
