Powerchina Zhongnan Engineering Corporation Limited (hereinafter referred to as
Powerchina Zhongnan) which was founded in 1949, has been dedicated to hydropower, wind
power, solar power,, water works, environmental protection, public works, transport works and
other infrastructures over the past decades. It is a Class A Survey, Design and Research Institute in
China with high reputation and remarkable strength, and a subsidiary of the wholly stated-owned
Powerchina Corporation. Over the past 60 years, it has been dedicated to the development of green
and clean energies, obtaining splendid achievements in the clean energies of hydropower, and
wind power and solar energy, water affair and environmental protection and other infrastructures

becoming a leader in its kind in China. Through the multi-year engineering experience and
extending international market cooperation, a long-term cooperation mechanism has been
established between Powerchina Zhongnan and many governments and well-known enterprises at
home and abroad.
Since 2009, Powerchina Zhongnan has successfully provided 23 training programs (including
two ministerial workshops) regarding hydropower, wind power and solar power for more than 500
foreign officials and technical personnel in more than hundreds of countries by means of its high
technical strength and successful operation experience in the field of clean energies, accumulating
extensive training experience, and fostering a big team of teachers and management personnel.
In the past 100 years, in the process of western industrialization, human have consumed about
60% of the global resources and is now faced with the challenge of sustainable energy
development. With the acceleration of global economic growth, the problems of energy,
environment and climate change are becoming increasingly prominent because of the quickly
rising demand of world energy. Conventional energy acquisition is heavily dependent on external
resources and the petroleum resources with increasingly high prices have seriously affected social
and economy in developing countries. Wind power, solar power, biomass energy and other
renewable resources have the advantages of high industrial maturity, low cost in power generation,
a good effect on natural and social environment. This renewable energy has become an important
strategic option for the world energy challenges and primary choice for the renewable energy
development.
The seminar combines theories with practices. Therefore, participants can master easily the

basic knowledge and technical applications through our special topic workshops, idea exchanging
and discussion, field visits and practices. The main courses include Introduction to New Energy
Source, Hydroelectric Power Station Planning and Construction, Development and Utilization of
Clean Energy in China, Promotion Mechanism for Alternative Energy Development and
Utilization, Planning and Design of Wind Farm, Application of Solar Energy, Biomass Power
Generation Technology, etc. The place for field visit is Longyangxia hydropower station in
Qinghai Province. Be known as the “leader” of the Yellow River power station, Longyangxia
station is the first large scale cascade hydropower station in upper Yellow River. We will also visit
experience Chinese culture in Beijing.
The ten days long seminar is of great significance in terms of enhancing the energy utilization
efficiency and environmental protection among the developing countries and promoting the
harmonious relationship between human and nature as well as sustainable economic development.
It also lays solid foundation for the further communication and cooperation between China and
these countries in the aspect of clean energy utilization.
