Supports graduate and postgraduate research using the resources of the Huyck Preserve in ecology,
taxonomy, animal behavior, evolution, geology, conservation biology, and land use history. Habitats

5. Program: Undergraduate Scholarships and Dissertation Fellowships

Supports undergraduate scholarships (3/1/13 for online registration) of up to $5,000 for sophomores
and juniors studying fields related to the environment, and to Native Americans and Alaska Natives
studying fields related to health care or tribal public policy. Dissertation fellowships (not available in
2013) of up to $24,000 support final year of writing dissertation concerning environmental public policy
and/or environmental conflict resolution. Award recipients must submit a copy of dissertation at the

7. Program: Undergraduate Student Researchers Program (USRP)
Agency: National Aeronautics and Space Administration

Offers undergraduates mentored research opportunities at 10 participating NASA centers. Eligibility is
limited to U.S. citizens who have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and are concentrating in engineering,
mathematics, computer science, or physical/life sciences. Students receive $6,000 (10-week summer
session) or $9,000 (15-week fall or spring session), plus travel. Students may apply for one or more
sessions but if awarded both, may only participate in one.

new and different ideas and strategies to address grand challenge questions in plants of economic

11. Program: Partnerships for Innovation: Accelerating Innovation Research (PFI: AIR)

Two types of projects under PFI: AIR subprogram. The first choice, Technology Translation, encourages

and private entities to motivate the translation and transfer of research discoveries into innovative

Enables engineering faculty who are renowned for teaching, mentoring, or leading educational reform
efforts to initiate collaborations with colleagues in learning and cognitive sciences to address difficult,
boundary-spanning problems in engineering education. At least one PI must be an engineering

years. Senior faculty and faculty who have just received tenure are especially encouraged. Annual

13. Program: Building Community and Capacity for Data-Intensive Research in SBE/EHR
Agency: National Science Foundation

Program is part of NSF's Cyberinfrastructure Framework for 21st Century Science and Engineering
(CIF21). SBE and EHR support proposals that create new, large-scale, next-generation data resources and
relevant analytic techniques to advance fundamental research for the SBE and EHR areas of research.
Projects should have significant impacts across multiple fields by enabling new types of data-intensive
research. In FY 13 20-25 awards are expected.

Supports full-time graduate and undergraduate students and Ph.D. professionals conducting scientific
research in any field of science and engineering. Awards of up to $1,000 (up to $5,000 for astronomy
