Some of these cancers are quite common. For example, prostate cancer is the most common cancer in American men. One out of every 10 men will develop the disease at some time in his life, most often after age 50. Bladder cancer is the fourth most common cancer among men and the ninth most common among women in the United States. Each year, more than 50,000 new cases of bladder cancer are diagnosed. Testicular cancer is the most common among American men aged 15 to 44. This presentation will equip therapists in a team approach to the treatment of patients with impairments resulting from urogenital and breast cancers. Attendees will learn about the most current research on these cancers and their signs and symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment options. Physical therapy interventions will be highlighted and the role of the PT on a multidisciplinary team will be explored. Objectives Upon completion of this course, you'll be able to: Describe the various cancers affecting the urogenital region in both men and women. Identify the various medical treatment options and physical therapy interventions available to patients and current clinical research into new therapeutic agents and technologies.
