ORDERED Karachi, July 27: A multi-pronged strategy i.e. ensuring above-board accountability, cleansing Enquiries and Anti Corruption Establishment of corrupt officials making Prosecution and Intelligence Units more effective and responsive; punishing corrupt officials and rewarding those who are upright and honest; launching public awareness campaign, training and capacity building of all relevant officials, will be henceforth vigorously pursued in order to check and arrest the menace of financial corruption and corrupt practices prevalent in the Provincial Department. This was vowed by newly appointed Chairman Enquiries and Anticorruption Establishment Sindh, Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah on Monday while presiding over the first meeting of officials of the Department, held at his office. He said the message must be loud and clear to all and sundry that accountability process would be above-board and carried out in a complete transparent manner, adding that officials of Anticorruption department must be upright and honest and no one can dare to raise finger upon their professional integrity and honesty and this principle would not be compromised, he said that officials would be held responsible for misdeed and corrupt practices by their sub-ordinate staff. The chairman said that all the Secretaries of Provincial Departments would be approached by him personally to furnish pertaining cases, adding that plethora of corruption scandals and scams were being reported by the print and electronic media so we must be vigil and act before the scams are reported by the media giving a bad name to the government and tarnishing image of the relevant departments. The Chairman made it clear that it was the mandate of Enquiries an Anticorruption Department to investigate financial corruption and corrupt practices prevalent in all provincial Departments. He announced that he would hold meetings with the concerned departments with a view to make Prosecution component and Intelligent Unit more effective and responsive to new challenges arising – put. He further declared that the Enquiries and Anticorruption Department is undergoing a major reshuffle in order to streamline it and achieve the stipulated goals; he warned the officials not to resort to use influence in respect of their transfer and posting matters, adding that it would prove counter productive and disciplinary action will be initiated against all such officials found indulging in use of influence. He assured the officials to give them a free hand to take action in all the relevant matters, however, no one should be victimize, adding that a programme aimed at training and capacity building of officials would soon be chalked –out. He directed the Circle officers to maintain a profile of their respective districts and update the same in terms of progress in cases and the same would be reviewed by him every month. Karachi, July 27: Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh for Culture and Tourism, Ms Sharmila Faruqui has approved Rs. 200,000/- for Asif Mehdi a renowned classical singer and son of legend of Pakistan music industry Mehdi Hassan (Late) as financial assistance for his medical treatment. Rubia Asif, Wife of Asif Mehdi received the cheaque of Rs. 200000/= at directorate culture Karachi. Asif Mehdi is suffering from Kidney diseases and admitted to private hospitals for his medical treatment since many days. Sharmila Faruqui said that we will not leave our legend in their hard time, they are our assets. Sindh culture department is taking all possible steps to facilitate the artists. She informed that Asif Mehdi case is dealt as a special case of Endowment Fund. HANDOUT NO: 283/2015 (SAH) ACTION BEING TAKEN AGAINST ABSENT DOCTORS : JAM MEHTAB HUSSAIN DAHAR Karachi: July 27: Provincial Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that doctors should benefit the poor patients with their qualification and experience because government is spending billions rupees in health sector. This he said today during personal hearing of doctors who have been remained absent from their duties. 35 doctors were given notices for personal hearing, however out of them 28 failed to comply with the order. He said that those who have failed to obey the orders may be terminated from their jobs. Provincial Minister for Health while, giving strict warning to absent doctors, said that those who were found guilty in performing their duties would be taken to task.
