Sir Christopher Wren facts;
Christopher Wren was born on the 20th of October 1632 and died on the 25th of febuary
1723.
- Christopher Wren was a successful architect who helped rebuild London after it was
destroyed, along with several of its notable landmarks, in the 1666’s by a fire. Looking back
upon his experiences in Italy, he drew up a new design for the city which included wide avenues
and “plazas” where people could socialize and integrate. His plans were unfortunately rejected
due to the fact that it would be to expensive. His plans for the new St. Paul’s cathedral were
accepted though, and in the doing a new style of architecture was introduced. Something called
a dome.
William Harvey facts;
-
William Harvey was born in England in 1587 and later died on the 3rd of June 1657.
William Harvey was a notable British physician who helped reconstruct the theory on
how the human body worked. He was also one of the first people who was allowed to
dissect a human body, since before the plague it was against religion to cut into a
human. As a result, all diagrams on the human body were done using pigs. William
Harvey was made most famous when he revolutionized the way people see the human
heart. You see, back then people thought that food was transmuted into blood in the
liver and then consumed as a fuel by the rest of the body. It was also thought that the
liver continued to make large amounts of blood. William Harvey disproved both of these
theories by proving that in order for them to work, the liver would have to produce over
7’000 liters of blood a day.

Sir Isaac Newton
Sir Isaac Newton was a notable was a notable astronomer who is often referred to as
the greatest scientist of the renaissance period. He was an astronomer, a chemist and a
physics expert. Like previous scientists such as Hooke or Wren, he couldn’t keep his eyes
and mind off of the natural world, and this lead to many of the discoveries which made
him famous. Building upon the works of previous geniuses he produced the theories of
how the light spectrum worked, how gravity affected life and how the universe worked
as a result of gravity. He also strengthened the theory that the earth revolved around
the sun instead of vice-versa
Sir Isaac Newton was also the second president of royal society of science.
Robert Hooke facts;
-
-
Robert Hooke was born on July 18 1665 in England and later died on the 3rd of March in
1635.
Robert Hooke was another physician who built upon the works of William Harvey, who
died just a few years before he was born. Like William Harvey, Robert Hooke expanded
the current knowledge of those times on the human body. Unlike Harvey, Hooke
expanded more into a new formb of science called microbiology. With a custom built
microscope based on designs given to him from a Danish scientist, Hooke was able to
peer into a new world of amazingly small creatures and plants. He then later wrote a
book on his views which helped expand the way people saw the world.
Robert Hooke was alsoa mechanic and an astronomer who also expanded a bit on the
work done by Isaac Newton.
Robert Hooke was also the first president of the Ryal society of science, and was
appointed by King Charles the 2nd.
Thomas Savery facts;
-
-
Thomas Savery was born in 1650 and died in 1715.
Thomas savery was a mechanic and is often credited as being the first person to
successfully design and build a working steam engine. The first steam engine that he
built was used in mines to raise water in order to keep the mines from flooding. He
called his inverntion “raising water with fire”. Unfortunatly his machine broke down
often and mines it was used to clean wer often flooded. But after much trial and error,
his invention would later revolutionize the way that the world would run.
Since he was a mechanic Thomas Savery also designed and built other things like
watches and gear contraptions.
