COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT SERVICES
It is the goal of Community Haven’s Community Employment Services to provide our program participants with job-seeking skills, job development and placement, personal and vocational adjustment training, job analysis, employment coaching, and employment follow-along services for a minimum of 90-150 days of continuous employment with a single employer in accordance with the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended.
JOB PLACEMENT SERVICES

Program participants come to an employer not only pre-screened, but also come with an Employment Specialist to assist in transitioning into your job culture, industry and business practices.
WHAT IS AN EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST?
Community Haven’s Employment Specialists (a.k.a Job Coaches) are experts in identifying employment needs in various industries and matching those needs with the right candidate. Our specialists work with program participants to identify skills and interests to complement your screening and hiring process. We work to fit the right person with the right job, keeping in mind that a successful placement represents a win for the employer…a win for the person….and a win for our community. The Employment
Specialist not only assists with job matching and placement, but also assists the individual with training, development of workplace supports, provides follow-along services and career development.
WHAT ARE EMPLOYMENT SPECIALISTS’ SERVICES?
Employment Specialists perform a wide variety of duties when assisting a program participant to secure and maintain competitive employment. Duties include job development, job analysis, placement training, coaching, and progress reports in collaboration with the person, the referring agency and the employer.

WHO PAYS FOR OUR SERVICES?
Funding is provided by the U.S. Department of Education, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation,
State of Florida and Medicaid Waiver and General Revenue funding which bases eligibility on
Social Security Administration standards. In addition, private payments by the program participant utilizing Income Related Work Expenses (IRWE’s) are also an option. We empower both employers and program participants by providing relevant career placement services that match the needs and demands of all stakeholders. This unique collaboration helps to stimulate the economy and boost tax revenues through competitive gainful employment.
Community Employment Services come at no cost to the employer. In fact, most companies will be eligible to receive a $2,400 Federal Tax Credit for each new hire staffed through our agency.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS TO MY BUSINESS?
Employment Specialists reduce the time it takes for businesses to locate qualified workers by providing access to a pool of pre-screened and motivated program participants.
Training and staff support from the Employment Specialists will combine with the policies and procedures of your company to ensure a successful outcome for the individual and the company.
Employment Specialists will be at the business to provide on-going supports and job retention services.

ADA SMALL BUSINESS CREDIT

EMPLOYMENT SERVICES
Community Employment Services provides comprehensive employment services for both employers and program participants. In today’s challenging business climate, employers benefit from staff experienced in providing well-trained and motivated employees. The Employment
Specialists work with employers on identifying their needs and offering qualified workers by screening candidates, providing on-the-job training and job accommodation (ADA) assistance when required. Program participants are directed by qualified and experienced staff with emphasis on the specific requirements of the employer and the particular job. Community Haven’s Community
Employment Services staff works with participants on career counseling, job readiness training, job development, placement, follow-along maintenance, job retention and job accommodation assistance. Our staff provides the participant with recommendations, ideas, assistance and advice on filling out applications and interviewing for particular jobs. When needed, the Employment
Specialist can advocate for the participant with an employer to modify the job site and facilitate the provision of assistive devices to meet your needs.
Active
involvement in job placement is important to successful employment. Once the participant is working, the Employment Specialist will continue to follow the case for of 90 days to ensure that new employee and the employer are satisfied and successful with the placement.
SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT & PHASE II EXTENDED SERVICES
Supported Employment is a system of support for individuals with moderate to severe disabilities with regard to ongoing employment in integrated settings. Supported Employment provides assistance such as job coaching, job retention, transportation training, assistive technology, specialized job training, and individually tailored supervision. Supported Employment provides ongoing support for those individuals to maintain employment. Supported Employment assists these individuals in becoming active, wage-earning members of the workforce

Utilizing an Individual
Career Plan and Employment Stability Planning, the Employment Specialist, the participant and the employer will collaborate to identify appropriate goals, select training preferences and ascertain the supports required to assist the participant in achieving an optimal independence and quality of life while meeting the employer’s needs .

ON THE JOB TRAINING
On-the-Job Training (OJT) is an excellent opportunity for both employers and program participants. With OJT, the trainee participates in hands-on training in an integrated work setting. This specialized training allows the individual to develop skills and gain experience that will enable them to advance their career or perform a job in a desired industry. When participating in OJT, the trainee will interact on a regular basis with employees working in comparable positions, and are paid a comparable wage. Individuals that participate in OJT can train in their desired field; gain valuable work experience; interact with employees through integrated work setting; and prepare to enter the workforce. Trainee salaries are paid by the employer and reimbursed directly by the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.
