Steps 1-16 can be completed in one visit to the North Campus. Step 1 : Online Application Submission Submit your application online at http://www.mdc.edu/admissions/. Fill in requested information. Florida State law requires that all students provide proof of Florida residency prior to the first day of classes in order to receive in-state tuition. Step 2: Pay the Application Fee Bursar’s Office Room 1154 Pay the $30.00 application fee at the Bursar’s Office. (305)237-1287 Step 3: Forward Transcripts Registrar’s Office-Incoming Transcript Section (305)237-2701 For institutions in the United States: please contact your high school or former college to forward official transcripts to: Miami Dade College, Transcript Processing Services, Room 3113; 11011 SW 104TH Street; Miami, FL 33176. Transcripts must be forwarded directly from your college or high school to Miami Dade College to be considered official transcripts. Foreign Credentials (Diplomas, Transcripts) with an English translation and Evaluation is required and WILL ONLY be accepted at the North Campus Admissions and Registration Department, Room 1123. (305) 237-1111 Step 4: ACCESS Services Access Services Department Room 6112 (305)237-1272 If you have a disability, you may choose to go to ACCESS Services in room 6112. Access Services can provide assistance after the MDC application is submitted. Step 5: Testing Requirements Testing Center Room 1160 (305)237-1015 The College Placement Test (CPT), PERT, TABE, and ACT-ESL are offered Monday through Friday on a walk-in basis. Visit the testing website at: http://www.mdc.edu/north/newstudentcenter/testing.asp for additional information. Students are exempt from taking the CPT/PERT if they have SAT scores of 440 or higher in Critical Reading and 500 or higher in Mathematics or ACT scores of 18 or higher in Reading, 17 or higher in Writing, and 21 or higher in Mathematics. If combined SAT score is 1200 or more in Critical Reading and Mathematics or composite ACT score is 26 or more, the student may be eligible for The Honors College. Students who would like to be exempt from the CPT/PERT and meet the above scores should submit their official test scores to the Testing Center. Step 6: Apply for Financial Aid Financial Aid Office Room 1119 (305)237-1058 You may apply for Financial Aid on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Miami Dade College’s School code is 010223. Financial Aid Office Hours: Mon.-Thurs. 8a.m. to 7p.m. and Fri. 8a.m. to 4:30p.m. **Single Stop provides free FAFSA preparation for students on Mondays from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and Thursdays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. A Single Stop financial counselor will assist students with the FAFSA** Step 7: New Student Orientation New Student Center Room 1173 College 101 will cover the following: Registering for classes Learning important information about Miami Dade College, North Campus Receiving answers to your questions and concerns Only for recent High School Graduates (305)237-1149 Step 8: Pay for your Classes Bursar’s Office Room 1154 (305)237-1287 If students don’t qualify for Financial Aid they will have to pay for their classes before the due date that is on their schedule. You have two options to pay for classes: Pay in person at the Bursar’s Office Pay on the web at www.mdc.edu Request a Short Term Loan at http://www.mdc.edu/financial_aid/ if you applied for Financial Aid and your file is not complete Step 9: Picture ID and Parking Decal Student Life Room 4208 (305)237-1250 Miami Dade College, North Campus offers a free identification card and free parking decals for each year that you are an active student at the college. In order to receive your ID and parking decal you will need the following documents: (For your ID)- Your paid schedule showing a balance of $0.00, along with a valid proof of identity such as your passport or valid Florida approved Identification (Drivers License, or Florida identification card) (For your Parking Decal)- Your driver’s license, vehicle registration and MDC ID. Step 10: Create your MyMDC Account Computer Courtyard Room 2101 (305)237-1800 For assistance and instructions on setting up your MyMDC account visit the Computer Courtyard located in Building 2000, Room 2101. Step 11: Get your Textbooks Bookstore Room 4101 (305)237-1247 You will have to purchase your text books before starting classes. Upon arriving at the bookstore present your schedule to any of the bookstore staff and they will assist you in finding the books required for your courses. Step 12: F.A.C.E. Advisement and Career Services Room 1104 (305)237-1234 Learn more about how to attain college success in your first year of college by participating in the F.A.C.E. program. You can register by either calling the F.A.C.E. department or email at face-it@mdc.edu with your name, telephone number, email address and home address. Step 13: Complete Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Advisement and Career Services Room 1104 (305)237-1425 An IEP is an educational plan that will help you determine the classes you will have to take in order to finish your program. To get this plan you will have to visit Academic Advisement and speak to your Academic Advisor. Step 14: Stay alert by getting involved!
