Instrumentation Requested:
CTD instrumentation (dual T, C & DO; SBE 35; transmissometer; par; fluorometer;
altimeter)
Minimum 24 working 12l OTE bottles
ADCP (75 kHz running with normal NB configuration)
3.5 & 12 kHz echo sounders.
Underway SBE 21 with both primary and secondary temperature sensors
Meteorological system (wind speed &direction, air temperature, BP, %RH, SW, LW,
rainfall)
Liquid scintillation counter
Fridge in rad van
-80C freezer in fwd lab
2 large freezers in main lab for seawater samples only
1 large freezer in aft lab for ‘fixed’ or organic samples.
1 fridge/freezer for inorganic chemicals
1 fridge for ‘fixed’ or organic samples & reagents
Working fume hood in aft lab
Working fume hood in rad van
Fleet Broadband internet connection to C.Sci cabin.
LAN/internet ethernet access for multiple science laptops in teaching lab
** 2 deckboard incubators – main deck port side ; requires surface seawater supply
Winches for other non-CTD operations:
Mooring winch on main deck – TSE (sediment trap lines ~ 350m)
Mooring winch on main deck - DEME (primary production line ~ 160m)
Hydrowire on winch deck for deploying plankton nets
Clean Kevlar and block for starboard Aframe, plus weight.
‘Split –drum’ option for either stern or starboard A-frame (as required; do not anticipate
loads above 100 kg).
Data Policy:
 All data (primary and any processed) are to be provided to the Chief Scientist(s) and
no other person. Any subsequent distribution will be at the discretion of the Chief
scientist.
 Request CTD log sheets to be provided to chief scientist at end of cruise with data
disks.
 Chief scientist will make a copy of the bridge ‘Science Log’
