Thank you for your interest in this highly sought after program. In an attempt to clarify our procedures, please review the following policies. Updates and changes to these policies will be provided in the classroom. We reserve the right to make changes as necessary throughout the year.
Course Preparation: In order to be best prepared for this program, it is strongly recommended that students have the recommended pre-admissions skills detailed on the program overview packet provided in orientation. This class is not intended for beginner computer users.
First Day of Class: On the first day of class, students will enter the classroom based on a roster provided to the instructor. Names will be called and seats will be assigned by an NCC staff member. Arriving early on the first day of class does not mean you will get in line first.
Attendance: Attendance in this class is required. Students who miss more than 10% of class time will not be eligible to earn the certificate. Excessive absences will have a negative impact as lectures are not repeated. It will be the student’s responsibility to recover all notes or other pertinent school information from class mates regardless of reason for
absence.
Sign in: Students must sign the daily Class Attendance Verification (CAV) form located in the front of the classroom. Students will only be credited with attendance hours based on this formal attendance record. Forgetting to sign in will result in no attendance being awarded that class meeting.
Supplemental Classes/Lab Time: The hours assigned in class are the only hours that will count towards your certificate. Lab time or supplemental classes are not counted towards your hours for this program.
Make Up: Making up hours is not an option.
Late-Add Students: At times, openings may occur for students throughout the school year.
Depending on the entry-date, earning a certificate may or may not be possible. See the counselor for more information.
Appropriate Attire and Hygiene: Please be sure your attire is not offensive and personal hygiene is in check.
EDD: It is the student’s responsibility to investigate their eligibility for Unemployment
Insurance (UI) and/or California Training Benefits (CTB) through the Employment Development
Department (EDD). North City Center is not able to determine eligibility or control funding. We do not have access to UI, CTB, EDD or financial aid records or information.
Disability: If you have a disability that requires special accommodations, please contact and meet with our Disabled Programs and Services (DSPS) Counselor, Leslie Quinones at 619-388-
1800, prior to the start of class. Leslie will verify your disability based on requisite documentation and confidentially inform staff members on a “need-to-know” basis.
Disruptive Students: Should an instructor deem that a student is being disruptive in the classroom, possibly impeding the learning of other students or the delivery of the lesson by the instructor, the instructor is obligated to take disciplinary action which may include removal from class for up to 48 hours. Policy 3100 can be found on our District’s website. Please see the counselor for more information.
Articulation: Students who complete the FEWD may qualify to articulate 10 credits to Mesa
College provided they have less than 10% absence and final grades of A’s or B’s for both the online and classroom portions. This agreement is subject to a yearly review and is subject to change. Students should be aware that the articulation agreement needs to be completed and turned in to their instructors no later than the last day of class that semester. See your instructor and/or the counselor for more information.
Completion of Certification FEWD: All students must attend a minimum of 90% of the classroom hours and fully participate in the online portion in order to earn the certificate. All assignments must be turned in on time.
Please sign below indicating you have read and understand all FEWD Policies.
