School and Community Cricket Coaches
Leicestershire & Rutland Cricket (“L&RC”) is the Governing body for the sport in the counties and
administers all aspects of recreational cricket. Our Vision is to secure the future of cricket by inspiring
people to choose and enjoy a lifelong involvement with the game.
We are currently looking to recruit part-time Schools and Community Cricket Coaches to support the
development team in delivering high quality professional cricket activities within our Schools and
Community programmes. The successful candidate will have experience of working in cricket/sports
coaching, developing core sporting activities and increasing the number of children and young adults
taking an interest in the game.
Candidates must demonstrate both team working skills and the ability to work unsupervised using
their own initiative. You will be a self-starter with energy and enthusiasm together with good
administration and organisational skills.
Principal accountabilities & objectives
Responsibilities for the Schools Cricket Coach include but are not limited to the following;









Primary School curricular and extra-curricular cricket activities and coaching
Primary School multi skills fundamental activities and coaching
School assembly visits
Teacher CPD
School competitions and festivals support
Secondary School Sports Clubs (SSCs) and the Satellite clubs activities and coaching
Deliver leadership activities within Secondary schools
Signposting participants to progression opportunities where they will be able to continue playing
the game
Monitor and evaluate sessions
Responsibilities for the Community Cricket Coach include but are not limited to the following;






Secondary School Sports Clubs (SSCs) and the Satellite clubs activities and coaching
Deliver leadership activities within Secondary schools
Support local communities to access cricket through delivering our StreetChance programmes
Support delivery of StreetChance casual competitions and leagues
Signposting participants to progression opportunities where they will be able to continue playing
the game
Monitor and evaluate sessions

Conditions of employment
Location: City and County wide (based on school delivery timetable)
Salary range: £9,100 (paid monthly)
Contract: 12month fixed term contract (extension subject to funding)
Hours: 20 hours per week (minimum hours, potential for additional hours)
Closing Date: Monday 9th September 2014 at 5pm
Interview Date: 17th September 2014 at Goals Leicester, Wakerley Road, Leicester, LE5 4WJ
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to deliver a coaching session to a class of primary school
children.
The position comes with mobile allowance and travel expenses (based on travel from Grace Road)
The position is based in Leicestershire and Rutland and line managed by the Cricket Development
Officer (Schools and Education) with day to day supervision by individual project leads.
Please note that for the Community Coaching role you will be required to work regular evenings
and weekends.
The selected candidates will need to produce one recent work and one personal reference.
