Medieval Europe: Design a Feudal Manor Name___________________________ Date____________________ Period_________ During the Middle Ages, kings ruled through a system called feudalism. A feudal manor would include a castle where the king (or noble) would live, a walled town surrounding the castle where the priest, knights, craftsmen and merchants lived, and small outlying villages where the farmers or peasants lived and worked. Use your knowledge of the Middle Ages and feudalism to design your own feudal manor. Include all of the following in your design, and be sure to label everything: a) b) c) d) e) f) g) h) i) King’s or Noble’s castle Walled town Homes of the priests, warriors, craftsmen, and merchants inside of the town. Dirt roads and alleyways inside of each town. The church or cathedral where people worshiped inside the town. Small farming villages located outside the walled town. Homes for the farmers and crop fields where they raise their crops. River or other source of fresh water. Dirt roads leading from the villages to the castle and town. Use the back of this paper to design the rough draft of your feudal manor. Feel free to be as creative as possible with this assignment. Additional Requirements: Eighty percent of your manor needs to be three dimensional. All of the areas need to be labeled so anyone can see what each structure represents. The foundation of your 3-D manor should be at least 16 inches by 12 inches but no larger than 16 inches by 24 inches. Take your time and do it well. Be sure that it is neat, full of color, and that it is your best work.
