The TCard is your U of T student ID. You can get your card in the TCard+ Office (BV498A)
UHIP card
UHIP is a health insurance plan that gives international students coverage that’s similar to OHIP.
Register online and print out your card. Find the link at utsc-isc.ca/upon-arrival/health.

Parking pass

Students may purchase permits in the Parking Services Office (IC40) or online.
Residence permits are only available for purchase in the Parking Services Office.

Cellphone
Some cellphone providers include: Mobilicity, Wind Mobile, Koodoo, Rogers, Bell, Telus, Public Mobile, and
Virgin Mobile. It’s best to visit their websites for full details and to compare plans in advance.
On campus, the U of T Bookstore (BV 3rd floor) sells phones, plans as well as calling cards.

Anti-Calendar
The Anti-Calendar compiles information from course evaluations that students fill out at the end of a course. It
is published by the Arts & Science Students’ Union (ASSU). The Anti-Calendar was discontinued in 2012, but all
of its previous versions are available online at assu.ca/anti-calendar.

What is SCSU? Where is SCSU?
SCSU is the Scarborough Campus Students’ Union and is located in the Student Centre. The SCSU is the only
official representative of all undergraduate students at UTSC. For more info on SCSU services, visit: scsu.ca
How do I opt-out of my student health insurance plan? How do I add family coverage to my health
insurance?
All eligible full-time undergraduate UTSC students can opt out of the SCSU Health and/or Dental Plan. For
more information on required documents and applications, visit studentcare.net/works or call the SCSU
Member Services Centre at 1-866-369-8797.
International Students: Go to the International Student Centre -Ask about the University Health Insurance
Plan (UHIP).
Where can I go if I am having problems and need to talk to someone?
Orientation and coming to university can be a huge transition and may be overwhelming for some students.
You may feel you would like to talk to someone. Here are some places you can go:



The Health & Wellness Centre (SL-270) offers a safe and confidential place to discuss problems
through one-on-one counselling, and group therapy.
Within the Department of Student Life, there are faith and worldview leaders whom you can connect

What’s ROSI and ACORN?
ROSI and ACORN are U of T’s student online information system. This is where you can sign up for courses,
update personal information and access grades. ROSI is the legacy student information service at U of T and
will continue to be available to students for several months, as the U of T community transitions to ACORN,
ROSI's replacement.
For several months, both ACORN and ROSI will be available to use before ACORN replaces ROSI as your
student information service at U of T.
How do I check which classes I’m enrolled in?
You need to check your account online at rosi.utoronto.ca. If you are having problems with any of your
courses, you should contact your registrar. See uoft.me/cT

Travels east from Kennedy Subway Station on weekdays between 6:30am and
11:00pm. This is a 30 minute express bus and the last stop eastbound is
"University of Toronto Scarborough."
How do I get a discounted TTC Metropass?
The TTC Adult Metropass and Post- Secondary monthly Metro pass are available for purchase for all UTSC students at
the SCSU office SL108 by the 3rd week of every month at a discounted price.
Adult Metropass Cost: $ 124.50*

You will need your Tcard and your debit card for payment.
Post-Secondary Student Metropass Cost: $112.00*


You will need your Tcard and your debit card for payment.
TTC Post -Secondary Metropasses are also available for purchase at any of the TTC Subway stations for
the same price of $ 112.00
Day Pass: $11.50*

5 Tokens: $14*
Eligibility to use TTC Post-Secondary Student Metropass
Students must show their Post- Secondary Student TTC Photo ID along with their Post-Secondary Student Metropass to
the TTC Operator/Collector every time they use the TTC service

Students should be enrolled in a full-time degree or diploma program in a recognized PostSecondary institution located within the City of Toronto.
Getting a Post-Secondary Student TTC Photo ID Visit TTC Site

TTC Photo ID card can be obtained at the Sherbourne Subway Station, 420 Bloor St. E, Toronto, Ontario
at a cost of $5.25 (cash only) and it’s valid for one school year. The current 2011-2012 photo IDs are
valid until October 31, 2012

To be photographed at this facility Post-Secondary Students must produce their
acceptance/enrollment letter or current timetable from their Post-Secondary institution
confirming that they are an eligible Post-Secondary Student, plus a piece of photo Identification (e.g.
Student T Card)
Note: You may wish to keep your Metropasses and receipts as proof of purchase in order to claim these
expenses for tax savings. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is responsible for taxation details.

Where do I get the discounted GO Transit pass?
GO transit is directly connected to UTSC through the east- and west-bound Route 51 – York University –
Richmond Hill -Scarborough – Centennial College -U of T Scarborough – Pickering bus, and indirectly to the
Rouge Hill train station via the TTC #38 bus. Fare and route information is available from the GO Transit
website gotransit.com .

Take the GO Train to Pickering Station and transfer to the GO Bus, "Hwy 407
Express West." The very next stop is "University of Toronto @
Scarborough." Direct to UTSC service on weekdays.

Registered full-time students at U of T can get their GO Student ID by bringing their TCard to the TCard
Office on their campus.
NEW FULL-TIME STUDENTS at U of T who do not currently possess a valid 2014/15 GO Student ID can
get a 2015/16 GO Student ID card by bringing proof of University acceptance to our Student Services
Centre in the Union Station main Concourse from August 25 to September 19, where a card will be
issued on the spot. After September 19, please visit any one of our Union Station service wickets. After
September 30, U of T will provide GO Student ID cards via Tcard offices.



The Registrar’s Office Front Line staff is available to release OSAP funding - loan documents and grants,
proof read bursary applications, and give general information on financial aid, scholarships, and
awards.
Students should first check their OSAP status online to make sure their documents are ready.

Three pieces of identification are required – a government-issued photo ID, TCard and SIN card – as
well as a void cheque.

Drop in Appointment: Come by during our business hours, Monday through Thursday and ask to speak
to a financial aid advisor. No appointments on Friday.

Where can I use a computer?
Public access computers are available in most campus libraries and in the Bladen Wing computer labs on the
4th floor.
How do I set up my email?
The two most important accounts you will use at UTSC are your UTORid and ROSI accounts.
Your UTORid is your primary login ID used to access a variety of student services at U of T, including:
 UofT Portal (Blackboard)
 UTMail+ (Student E-mail)
 Printing services, such as MobilePrint
 Blackboard Transact (TCard+)
 Wi-Fi access
 Computer Lab workstation access

What’s a UTORid? How do I get one?
 Your UTORid is an 8 digit code that allows you access to university computers and online systems such
as email and Portal (Blackboard). Find your UTORid on your TCard.

To activate it, you must go to utorid.utoronto.ca and go to ACTIVATE and use the secret activation key
(SAK) issued by the TCard office at the time you receive your TCard.


I am a student from the St. George or UTM campus! Can I use UTSC services?
Yes! Students from UTM or UTSG who are not currently enrolled in courses at UTSC can access UTSC's various
IT services (computer labs, printing, Blackboard Transact [TCard+]) by using the Visitor's Webform. This will
authorize your UTORid on UTSC workstations.
Please note that this authorized access will expire at the end of the academic term. You will have to re-use the
Webform for each academic term you want access to UTSC's services.
What is the U of T Portal? What is Blackboard?
Blackboard is U of T's institutionally supported learning management system (LMS) and Student Portal.

Food & Meal Plans
What is there to eat on campus?
UTSC has a variety of locations where you can grab a full meal or a quick coffee. For food options, hours and

Bladen Wing Tim Horton's
Located on the second floor of the Bladen Wing, this is a full-service Tim Horton's. Coffee, tea, fruit smoothies,
sandwiches, wraps, muffins, donuts available.
Starbucks
Located within the Meeting Place on the second floor of the Science Wing, serving coffee, tea, breakfast and
baked goods.
La Prep
Situated on the ground level of the Instructional Centre, this location serves specialized coffees, teas, hot and
cold beverages, sandwiches, salads, soups and assorted baked goods.
Rex's Den Restaurant
Located on the lower level of the Student Centre, this location serves as the student run restaurant on campus
and offers both sit down and take out options. Daily specials are available
Hot Dog Cart
Located outdoor courtyard of the Student Centre, the Hot Dog Guy Nasir offers chips, poutine, cold beverages
along with a variety of hot dogs.
Subway
Located on the Ground Level of the Student Centre, this food outlet offers various submarine sandwiches,
salads and snacks
Treats
Situated in the Student Centre food court on the ground level, this location offers a variety of coffees, teas,
bubble tea, cold beverages, breakfast and regular sandwiches and baked goods.
Hero Certified Burgers
This outlet is located in the food court of the Student Centre on the Ground Level. It offers 100% seasoned
heritage Angus beef raised without hormones or antibiotics, gluten-free and Halal certified.
KFC Express
This express location in the food court of the Student Centre offers quick meal options such as chicken
sandwiches, original popcorn chicken, wraps, chicken strips, poutine, fries and ice cold beverages.
Asian Gourmet
This outlet located in the food court of the Student Centre on the Ground Level offers a variety of Asian food.
The Market Place
The Market Place is located on the first floor of the Humanities Wing. This cafeteria style area offers a variety
of cuisines. An indoor seating area is also available.
Booster Juice
Located inside The Market Place on the first floor of the Humanities Wing, this kiosk offers a variety of freshly
made juices.
INS
This convenience store located on the Ground Level of the Student Centre offers a variety of snacks, coffee,
beverages as well as grab and go sandwiches.
Where do I sign up for a meal plan?
A Meal Plan is a prepaid account on your TCard that enables you to enjoy a wide variety of healthy and ethnic
food from more than 20 vendors at UTSC.
To purchase a Meal Plan, call (416) 208-2233 or email us at tcardplus@utsc.utoronto.ca. You can also drop by
our office at BV498A during our office hours.
