Bonham (Scholarship) Trust Purpose That, in order to honor and preserve the charitable and educational purposes intended by trustors when the trusts were established in 1968 and 1975, the purpose of the Bonham Trust is to assist graduates of Britton High School and Britton-Hecla High School in furthering their education by providing grants or loans, as the governing board determines. Grants and loans may be made for furthering post-high school education or skills for any year of college, university, graduate, or professional school, or trade or vocational schools. The selection committee may not discriminate based upon race, creed, color, or sex but recipients must be American citizens. Criteria for the selection of recipients shall be determined by the governing board, and shall include consideration of the available funds, academic achievement, academic potential, financial need, leadership, community involvement and citizenship. The governing board may consider other factors and the weight to be given each factor shall rest with the governing board. GUIDELINES 1. The recipient must be a Britton High School or Britton-Hecla High School student who is currently in a postsecondary program or is a high school senior on track for graduation. 2. The recipient must be currently enrolled in a full-time course of study at an accredited institution of higher learning, including a vocational/technical school, two-year or four-year college or university, or graduate school. 3. The recipient must have a 2.0 cumulative grade point average. 4. Scholarships will be awarded in $500 increments and the Bonham Scholarship Committee will choose recipients and scholarship amounts. 5. The quality and appearance of the application will be taken into consideration. 6. Application and transcript must be postmarked no later than April 1, 2015 and must be mailed to: Bonham Board Dacotah Bank - Trust and Wealth Management PO Box 1210 Aberdeen, SD 57402-1210 Scholarship recipients will be notified by June 1, 2015. Checks will be distributed to the schools of the scholarship recipients by the beginning of the fall 2015 term. No candidate shall be denied being a recipient of a scholarship on the basis of race, creed, sex, religion, national origin, or any other basis, which is prohibited by Section 501(C) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
