MISSION STATEMENT
UAHA is a registry which endeavours to unite all horse breeds of the Americas already found or to
be bred or imported to Australia such as, but not limited to:
American Saddlebred, pure and part-bred and Sporthorse as well as Sadlebred Warmblood
Paso Fino
Peruvian Paso
Paso Creole
Morgan
Georgian Grande
Standardbred
Speed Racking horses
PLEASE contact us if you have any other breeds. We will be happy to add it as long as you have
correct papers that prove you own it.
REGISTRATION PROCEDURES
Please make sure you fill in the Registration form correctly. It will waste time if it has to be redone. When sending in the application form, please print page 1 and 2 on same paper. Please make
sure the photos are clear (4 photos, one from each side). The photos can be sent on a CD and the
CD will be returned with papers. Moneys can be direct deposited but must be sent at same time as
papers and an A4 Envelope stamped and self-addressed must be sent with registration application.
All colours accepted, but if you want to have a specific colour gene on the papers and it not an
obvious one, it must be colour tested and papers presented to the Registry. The Registry can
organise to have the colour tested with the DNA at the lab in Qld.
All American Saddlebred Stallions must be JEB tested.
Each breed will be divided into three categories, i.e. Purebred, Part bred (min 50%) and Sport
horses or infused blood horses with a min of 25%.

Purebred horses can be bred from purebred parents only. Their parentage must be verified by
DNA analysis. This will be done by the Laboratory of Queensland University at a cost of $75.00
per test.
Infused blood horses (also known as Sporthorses or Warmbloods in the case of American
Saddlebreds) carry at least 25% blood of the breed they are registered as. DNA testing is not
requiredas foals, but if they are to be bred with later, they must be DNA tested for their foals to be
registered. They will be registered based on the information provided to UAHA by the owner or
breeder. UAHA does not accept responsibility for incorrect information.
UAHA is a new Registry and will rely on truthful information provided by owners and breeders.
UAHA will accept copies of original Registration papers for the sire and dam plus a DNA test for
the resulting foal.
UAHA also accept Foundation Stock Registrations for newer X breeds such as Warmblood, Paso
Creole, Georgian Grande, Speed Racking etc.
We know there are more breeds in Americas created by cross breeding such as the Azteca which is
the cross between the Andalusian and the Quarter Horse or the Criollo (Argentinian horse) and the
Quarter Horse. We welcome anyone with Quarter Horses to register for Azteca.
PURPOSE
UAHA will be an umbrella Registry for all breeds of horses originating from North and South
America. It will register pure and part bred horses and ponies of the Americas in Australasia. Some
of those breeds are too small to have a Registry here in Australia and many spend the added money
to register overseas.
Registration Procedures and Rules have been prepared to eliminate mistakes in registering and
transferring UAHA horses in Australia. It is imperative that breeders and owners help assist by
providing accurate and truthful information at all times. In case of questions or problems which may
arise, please contact UAHA before sending in registration application.
GENERAL REGISTRY BUSINESS POLICIES
SIGNATURE AND AUTHORITY
A letter of authority must be filed with the Registrar and Secretary of UAHA stating the name(s) of
all persons authorised to sign any business transactions for that person or entity. A sample of each
person's signature must be shown on the Letter of Authority. Authority to sign transactions may be
granted retroactively, but cannot be canceled retroactively.
PAYMENT OF FEES FOR SERVICE
From Jan 1st 2014 registration fees will apply and will be published in due course.
UAHA requires that registration applications are accompanied by one self-addressed, A4 sized,
stamped envelope. This will enable UAHA to mail out the registration certificate. If the horse is
registered with another Registry applicant is requested to send in original papers from another
registry, which will be returned to the applicant.
All purebred foals registered must be DNA tested. This fee is payable when sending in the
registration application.
All payments for services are due upfront.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR PROPER PAPERWORK
All responsibility for obtaining and submitting correct and true paperwork required to complete a
business transaction with UAHA always rests with the owner of the horse. UAHA reserves the
right to refuse incorrect paperwork or incorrect filling out of forms or documents and may request a
fee for added work.
ERASURES OR ALTERATIONS
Any erasure or alteration of information on a Breeders Certificate, Transfer Endorsement on a
Certificate of Registration, will render the altered document null and void.
Mistakes on registration application forms may be crossed out and must be initialled in the
applicant’s own handwriting. Liquid paper is not acceptable. Alternatively a new form should be
used. Any form deemed illegible by the Secretary or Registrar will be returned and a fee may be
charged.
BUYER versus SELLER DISPUTES
UAHA cannot intervene in ownership or any other types of disputes between a 'buyer' and a 'seller'
of a registered horse. Where properly completed and signed documents are presented, UAHA will
process a transaction.
STUD NAME (PREFIX/POSTFIX)
A breeder can apply to the Association for use of a stud prefix or postfix at the set fee. This
prefix/postfix may be used as part of the name of every animal of which he/she is the first owner.
This stud name cannot be used by anyone else to register horses with UAHA.
Stud names registered with another Registry can be registered with UAHA as long as the name is
not already registered with UAHA in someone else’s name. Proof of registration of prefix may be
requested in cases where two prefixes are alike.
It is suggested the prefix is 20 letters or less in length. In some circumstances it may be longer but
as full registered names can not exceed 40 characters including prefix it is suggested to keep it
shorter. Requests for abbreviation of prefix or postfix to initials will be considered as long as the
initials are not the same as a previously abbreviated stud prefix.
NAMING A HORSE
Each animal for which application for registration is made must be given an acceptable name which
does not conflict or resemble the name of any other animal registered with the UAHA either living
or dead as recorded in the database.
Two choices of names must be provided on the application in the order of preference. UAHA
reserves the right to judge whether a name is acceptable. Names deemed to be offensive by
Registrar will be denied.
1) The name cannot exceed 40 characters. This includes letters, spaces and punctuation and
the prefix/postfix.
2) UAHA defines a conflicting name as one that is spelt exactly the same as a horse already
registered in the same breed registry. This does not include the prefix/postfix.
3) Names that sound phonetically the same may be accepted depending on the entire name.
4) Numerical prefixes or postfixes are not allowed. The suffixes 'Jr.' and 'Sr.' are also not
allowed.
5) If a stud prefix is used that does not belong to the person registering the foal/horse, it must
be according to the seller’s stipulations (Please see se “Sellers Transfer”) at time of sale of a
pregnant mare. If seller of the pregnant mare did not stipulate that seller’s prefix must be
used, the owner at time of foaling can use their registered prefix as the breeder at time of
foaling. If no agreement was made between a lessee and owner of a leased mare, the
recorded lessee of the dam at the time of foaling can register the foal with their prefix. If a
foal is sold before registration, the same rule applies, as long as a Transfer Report (for
Unregistered Foals Only) has been completed by the breeder.
BREEDER
The recorded BREEDER of a Purebred or Partbred foal will be the mare owner or lessee at the time
of foaling unless a seller stipulates otherwise when selling a pregnant mare. This must be recorded
with the registry at time of sale.
For any lease to be accepted by the registry the owner must have registered written permission on a
formal lease with UAHA.
If a mare owner sells a pregnant mare or any horse, it is the owner’s responsibility to report the sale
to the registry within 30 days. A Sellers transfer form must be filled out and the seller must fill in
the name and address of the buyer and the seller must stipulate their registration wishes on this form
and send it within 30 days to the registry.
If sellers want the foal to be registered with their registered prefix, this becomes an agreement
between buyer and seller.
STALLIONS
Stallion Registration:
1. All breeding stallions must be DNA tested wether purebred or partbred.
2. At the conclusion of every breeding season, a Stallion Service Report must be filed with the
Registry. On this report all mares must be duly noted with names of owners and this applies
to partbreds as well as purebred and non breed mares.
3. All American Saddlebred stallions (pure- and part-bred) must be tested for JEB and results
must be published.
4. Stallion owners must also nominate their stallion(s) for the following breeding season for a
set fee (stating Jan 1st 2014, this is currently set at $15). If a stallion owner breeds a stallion
that has not been nominated a fine of $50 and up to $150 will be charged depending on the
number of mares bred, before any resulting foals can be registered.
5. SSRs must be filed July 31 each year for nominated stallions and nomination forms sent in
at the same time. Failure may mean that a stallion loses his eligibility to breed or resulting
off-springs can be refused registration. A late fee of $50 will be charged if the SSR is late.
This fee can be increased up to $150 depending on how late it is.
Note:
A mare owner should always contact the Registrar to find out if the stallion they have chosen to
breed to is nominated for that breeding season.
If a mare has been served by two stallions within a 30-day period ASSRA must be notified by
entering both services on the SSR.
Owners of American Saddlebred stallions may wish to submit copies of their stallion’s SSR forms
to ASHA (USA), if progeny is to be registered in USA.
Australian Genetic Testing (AGT) will give discounts when owner tests for DNA + Colour or
DNA + JEB (Saddlebreds) and for DNA + JEB + colour.
ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION
Breeding by the use of transported semen refers to any breeding by artificial insemination.
Fresh cooled or frozen semen may be used.
At the time of the death or gelding of a donor stallion, the registered owner must notify UAHA of
the existence, location and amount of semen stored.
The stallion service report (SSR) must show the date on which the semen was shipped, the name of
the mare that received it and the date(s) of insemination(s). It should also be indicated whether
fresh cooled or frozen semen was used.
Falsifying transported semen records or failing to report a breeding by use of transported semen is
considered violations of these rules.
DNA TESTING REQUIREMENTS
DNA testing Applications must be addressed to the UAHA secretary. DNA samples will be
processed by The Laboratory of Queensland through the Australian Genetics Testing Pty Ltd,
NSW. Please note that the Laboratory or AGT will not deal directly with individuals – all
correspondence regarding DNA testing must go via the UAHA registrar.
Any horse that has been DNA tested with another registry that does not give out the DNA results,
can re-DNA the horse in question but it is their choice, All offspring must be DNA tested if it is
bred on with.
COLLECTION KIT
A DNA collection kit will be provided by UAHA for the purpose of collecting and submitting the
required hair sample for analysis. The owner must complete sampling as soon as possible after
receiving the kit and forward the sample to the Laboratory. UAHA will charge a fee if kit is lost and
has to be re-sent.
RANDOM DNA TESTING
UAHA reserves the right to conduct random DNA collection and analysis if valid reason exists to
parent verify a horse for which registration is sought, or, to re-verify a previously registered horse’s
id if there is any doubt about the true identity of the horse. Such DNA testing may be conducted by
the UHA at the owner’s expense. Refusal of the owner or breeder of the horse involved to comply
with the Code of Conduct and permit DNA testing may result in cancellation of application or
registration of such horse and/or all its progeny.
NOTICE OF DEATH OF A REGISTERED HORSE
Written notification of the death of a registered horse shall be sent to the Secretary by the owner
with its registration certificate and a self addressed and stamped envelope within ninety (90) days of
the horse's death for recording & marked 'deceased'. The certificate will be returned to the
registered owner.
NOTICE OF GELDING
Each member who is the owner of a stallion or colt gelded after registration shall notify the
Secretary in writing within ninety (90) days of gelding. The certificate of registration, a Veterinary
Certificate or bill or a Statutory Declaration and a self addressed and stamped envelope should be
mailed with this notification. The certificate will be stamped and returned to the owner.
CERTIFICATE CHANGES AND REPLACEMENT CERTIFICATES
Change of name of a Registered Horse
The name of a registered horse may be changed, provided that:
A mare A stallion -
has produced no foals
has sired no foals
The original Certificate of Registration must be submitted together with the name change request on
the official UAHA Change of Name Form and correct fee. A new Certificate will be issued. Change
of Name forms can be obtained from the Secretary.
The stud prefix of the breeder of the horse included in the original Certificate must remain unaltered
and become the stud prefix preceding the new given name.
Correction of a Registration Certificate
To alter or correct a Certificate to indicate a change in colour, markings, sex (male to female or vice
versa), foaling month, branding, the removal of scars or brands which previously had been indicated
on the Certificate or date of transfer must be done by the Registrar. The UAHA must be provided
with the original Certificate of Registration and a stamped and self-addressed envelope.
The following conditions apply to all corrected Certificates:
1. Request to correct an original Certificate of Registration can be made by the current
recorded owner filing the proper statutory declaration - duly notarised, completed in all
respects together with the UAHA Change of Registration Details Form. The Statutory
Declaration and Change of Registration Details Form are to be accompanied by the
necessary fee, a self addressed and stamped envelope plus four current photographs of the
animal, showing both sides and front and back views. Statutory Declaration Forms are
available at most newsagents.
2. When a significant correction in the description of a horse is requested, positive
identification may be required if the ownership is no longer recorded in the name of the
original owner. Such positive identification requires written affirmation and signature on a
photograph of the horse (clearly showing distinctive markings) from the original owner that
the photograph is of the horse in question
3. If the application for a corrected Certificate contains a discrepancy of such a nature as to
bring into question the identity of the animal, the Committee may require inspection or DNA
testing of the animal.
4. To correct the date of transfer recorded with UAHA, the Registry must be provided with a
signed statement from both seller and buyer, giving the correct date of sale accompanied by
the original Certificate, a self addressed and stamped envelope and correct fee, in order to
issue a corrected Certificate.
5. The seller additionally must provide the ASSRA office with a “Sellers transfer” form within
30 days of sale. A Sellers Transfer Form is not to be confused with the transfer by the new
owner. The Sellers Transfer form is a way to keep contract with horses that may not get
transferred by new owners. It also will tell the registry if it is a pregnant mare what the
prefix should be or if any stipulations is with sales of stallions.
Replacement or Duplicate Certificate
A replacement Certificate is a new Certificate of Registration issued when the original Certificate is
in existence, but has been defaced. The UAHA Registrar must be provided with the original
Certificate and the required fee prior to issuing a replacement certificate.
A duplicate Certificate is a new Certificate of Registration issued when the original has been lost or
destroyed. The word 'DUPLICATE' will appear on the face of the Certificate to identify that it is
not the original. It is issued when sufficient proof of loss and proper identification of the horse has
been submitted to the UAHA Registrar, as follows:
UAHA may issue a duplicate Certificate of Registration if the party who lost the original lodges the
proper statutory declaration, duly notarised and completed in all respects, stating the circumstances
under which the original Certificate of Registration was lost or destroyed.
The required fee must accompany the statutory declaration and four current photographs of the
animal, showing left and right sides, front and back views.
SELLERS TRANSFER.
A seller must within 30 days of the sale of a registered horse, fill out a transfer form with the name
and address of the new owner and send it to the registry. If the horse is a pregnant mare, the seller
stipulates if they want their registered prefix to be on the registration certificate of the foal. If no
such stipulations have been recorded with the registry, the owner at time of breeding forfeit their
right to have their registered prefix on the registration papers of the foal.
Every transfer of ownership of a registered horse must be recorded in the office of the UAHA and a
complete and correct chain of ownership must be maintained on each horse’s registration.
BUYER'S RESPONSIBILITIES
Buyers are cautioned to inspect the horse's official certificate of registration prior to purchase, to
ensure that the seller's name is the last recorded owner listed and verified on the certificate.
The buyer is responsible for obtaining from the seller a properly completed transfer on the back of
the Certificate of Registration and forwarding this with the transfer fee to the UAHA office for
recording as soon as possible after purchase to reduce the possibility of complications
Transfer of ownership into the buyer's name where gaps exist in the chain of ownership will be
referred to the Board.
It is the responsibility of the Buyer to research and obtain the appropriate transfer details for each
change of ownership. When the current owner requests the assistance of the UAHA office in
obtaining these documents an additional fee may be charged for that service. This type of
assistance is available only on an "as time permits" basis.
SELLER'S RESPONSIBILITIES
The seller must fill in the transfer form on the back of the registration Certificate and fill out a
transfer form and sign both as a sole owner or partner or partners and must advise the Registry
within 30 days the name and address of the buyer, and date of sale.
On the transfer form the seller must also stipulate any agreements between buyer and seller if the
horse is a pregnant mare or a stallion (see Chain of Ownership above).
PROCEDURE TO TRANSFER OWNERSHIP
To transfer the recorded ownership of a registered horse, the buyer must supply UAHA with the
following items:

transfer, but are in such order that it is not possible to complete the transfer, the Certificate will be
retained until the transfer can be completed and recorded properly.

owner, by foreclosure of any lien or by an order or decree of Court, or otherwise by operation of
law, UAHA may transfer the registration of the horse to the new owner when presented with the
following:
1. By the order of a court of competent jurisdiction, or other satisfactory proof of Copy
