Christian Values
The Value for this Half Term is: Justice
'Jesus said: "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you." '
Matthew 7:12
This half term's Christian Value is 'Justice'. We will be exploring what it means to 'play fair',
respecting others' rights and behaving responsibly with the people we meet each day. We will also be
thinking about what Justice means for others in our Community and for people across the world. Our
worship times will include Bible stories surrounding the issue of Justice too.
This week we are praying for families who have suffered bereavement or injury through war. We also
have in our minds those families who have recently suffered in Paris. If you would like us to pray for
anything in particular, please fill in the prayer slip at the bottom of the newsletter and send it to
school. It can be anonymous if you prefer.

At Huyton with Roby we have the highest aspirations for your child and know
that every lesson counts towards your child’s achievement. We also know that
you, as your child’s parent/carer, want your child to get on well in life. Children
only get one chance at school, and your child’s chances of a successful future
may be affected by not attending school every day on time. When children do
not attend or are late, they:

struggle to keep up with school work
 miss out on the social side of school life – especially at primary school. Poor attendance can affect
children’s ability to make and keep friendships, a vital part of growing up.
There is a clear link between poor attendance at school and lower academic achievement. In primary
schools, less than 65% of children get good results in Maths and English in schools when they have an
average of 15 days absence, compared to around 90% in schools where the average is less than 8
days.
Of the children who miss more than 50 per cent of school, only 3% manage to achieve five or more
GCSEs at grades A* to C. 73% of children who have over 95% attendance achieve five or more
GCSEs at grades A* to C. While GCSEs may seem some time away, setting good attendance and
punctuality patterns from an early age, from nursery and Reception through to Year 6, will really
help.

If you are experiencing any difficulty regarding attendance or any other issues please get in touch
with Linda Wade our Pastoral Care manager.

Book Swop
Mrs Allerston is busy putting together a book swop in the main entrance. Please feel free to swop
your books from home. Can we ask you to only swop 1 book at a time as space is limited. There is an
adult and a children’s section. If you could take the time to fill in a book review on the books you are
swopping that would be lovely.
Uniform
Can I please remind parents and carers that the children need black shoes for school. Boots may be
worn coming to school but children will need to change into their school shoes. Trainers are not
allowed except as part of outdoor PE. Can children bring their PE kits into school and we suggest they
are left in school until we send them home.
