Minutes – Closing Business Session Tennessee Building Officials Association Annual Meeting Gatlinburg, TN April 13, 2011 President Tim Earles called the Closing Business Meeting to order: President Earles asked the membership to observe a moment of silence for A. B.’s brother who was having surgery. President Tim Earles introduced Bob Boyer from Florida a candidate for the ICC Board of Directors. Bob Boyer addressed the membership asking their endorsement as a candidate for the board. A motion was made by Terry Cobb seconded by Ray Hubner for TBOA to support Mr. Bob Boyer as a candidate. Motion was approved. Secretary Keith Bruner presented the minutes from last year’s opening and closing business session that were handed out during the opening session. Motion Ray Hubner seconded by Steve Mills to approve the minutes. Motion approved. Treasurer’s Report was given by Eddie Plunkett. Checking Account: $53,872.48 Scholarship Account: $ 7,109.30 CD’s $ 35, 00.00 Total $95,981.78 Motion to approve the Treasurer’s report was made by Steve Mills, 2nd by Ray Hubner. Motion was approved President Tim Earles gave the president’s report including the following: TBOA board has approved board responsibilities which are posted on the website for each board member. Treasurer Eddie Plunkett has created a budget for TBOA. Copies were handed out at the opening business session. TBOA board purchased 4 new projectors to be used at the conference. The projectors will be placed across the state with different board members so the different chapters will have access to use them. The board has attained Patti Meadows to take care of the website. Pattie has made great improvements to the site. The TBOA board voted to participate in the ICC foundation scholarship program. TBOA will provide a $1,000.00 match each year for scholarships to attend the annual ICC conference. President Tim Earles presented a proposal under new business approved by the board to pay all expenses for the president of TBOA to attend the annual ICC conference and Region VIII meetings. A motion was made by Terry Cobb, seconded by Claude Smith for TBOA to pay to send the President or in case he/she could not attend the person appointed by the board of directors to represent the organization in his absence to the Region VIII meetings and ICC annual conference, the annual ICC conference requiring approval of the Board of Directors. The motion was approved. President Tim Earles asked Denny Boss to give a presentation on next year’s conference. Quotes were received from The Glenstone Lodge in Gatlinburg & Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro. After some discussion a vote was taken with the Glenstone Lodge receiving the vast majority of the vote. President Earles announced the 2012 TBOA Annual Conference will be held in Gatlinburg. Resolutions were read by Linda Dansby for the following: Gatlinburg Mayor Mike Hill Cumberland Region Code Association Gatlinburg Golf Course Deceased Members Motion to approve was made by Steve Mills, 2nd Ray Hubner. Motion was approved. Secretary Keith Bruner gave the registration committee report. There were 161 total registrations with 147 full & 14 day members. The registration hours will be changed at next year’s conference to include a late registration period on Sunday. Legislative report by Steve Mills: Steve reported that there were several bills out there but none that would directly affect TBOA members at this time. Steve advised anyone that had concerns of a bill coming through to notify a member of the legislative committee so they could monitor it appropriately. President Tim Earles asked the membership to inform one of the board members if they were interested in serving on any of the committees. President Tim Earles introduced the Board of Directors: 1st Vice President – AB Crofford, City of Bartlett 2nd Vice President – Denny Boss, City of Oak Ridge Treasurer – Eddie Plunkett, City of Fayetteville Secretary – Keith Bruner, City of Kingsport Past President – Tim Ward, City of Oak Ridge Associate Member – Mark Richardson Associate Member – Bob Melton Door prizes were given out.
