Dear Orchestra Parents:
The fact that we can literally fill the largest stage in the state at the All City String Festival is living proof that the string
program in the Appleton Schools is thriving! Again this year, we had more beginning players this fall than we had
instruments for them to use. Thanks to the kind donations from many individuals at last year’s concert, we were again
able to put an instrument in every child’s hands this year.
However, we continue to see a growing number of students who do not have adequate funds to purchase or rent
instruments. This year, we have 207 children in the orchestra who find themselves in this situation. Keeping up with the
costs of repair and replacement is an increasing challenge as the percentage of students in need has been increasing
every year.
Would you be able to sponsor one or more of these children by covering their rental fee? As you know, the district
only charges $120 for a school year rental, but even a lesser donation would be helpful. Any donation, large or small
will be very helpful!
We have established the Strings Trust Account with funds earmarked specifically for repair and replacement of stringed
instruments. Your tax deductable donation to this fund will insure our mission to support student musicians in need.
As a thank you, we would love to give you complimentary tickets reserved in the Dress Circle. For every $50 donation
received by April 9th – the PAC will hold up to 4 tickets for you. We will supply the Box Office with your name and the
number of tickets, and you can pick up the tickets at the Will Call Booth the night of the festival. Seeing the hundreds
and hundreds of bows all moving in the same direction from the first row of the balcony is worth a donation alone!
