1920s Poster Project - Due Friday, December 6th In a group, you will create a poster that investigates an important condition of the 1920s. Use this instruction sheet and rubric to guide the creation of your poster. You will have one and half class periods to work on the poster. Your poster must contain the following: A title 3 images, symbols, or graphics (At least one must be handdrawn) 2 paragraphs A timeline of events for your topic Topic: How did _______________________________ influence American culture in the 1920s? Group Members: Project Responsibility Group Member Image #1 Image #2 Image #3 Paragraph #1 - Summary of your topic Paragraph #2 - How did your topic influence American culture in the 1920s? Timeline Research: Each group member will be responsible for researching at least two sources. You can use the readings in your topic folder, the textbook, and the following website tiny.cc/mcgrawjager20 . Make sure you reference the sources in your notes. Images #1, #2, and #3: You will find three images that appropriately represent your topic. Your images could be hand drawn cartoons, charts, photographs, graphs, portraits of key figures, maps, symbols, etc. AT LEAST ONE IMAGE MUST BE HAND DRAWN. Paragraph #1: Write a paragraph (at least 5 sentences) summarizing your topic. Use the following questions and sentence frames to help write your paragraph. Make your writing neat and legible. Check separate instruction sheet. Paragraph #2: Write a paragraph (at least 5 sentences) explaining how your topic influenced American culture in the 1920s. Include information about what caused your topic and what the results were. Timeline: Create a timeline that lists the important events associated with your topic in the order that they occurred. Rubric: Your group’s poster will be graded using the following rubric. Ideas & Content and Organization are GROUP GRADES, while each member will receive an INDIVIDUAL GRADE for Presentation & Participation. Ideas & Content: 1 - Not enough information Key elements from the poster are missing Information presented is irrelevant or inappropriate to the topic 2 - Does not meet expectations There are fewer than 2 paragraphs covering the topic, or the paragraphs are missing information There are fewer than 3 images illustrating the topic The timeline is missing events or is not labeled 3 - Meets expectations There are 2 distinct paragraphs with relevant information covering the topic There are 3 images that appropriately depict the topic The timeline is properly labeled and contains all important events 4 - Exceeds expectations There are more than 2 distinct paragraphs, or paragraphs exceed expected amount of detail There are more than the expected amount of images covering the topic The timeline contains extra detail and events Organization: 1 - Not enough information Key elements from the poster are missing Information presented on poster cannot be identified or understood 2 - Does not meet expectations Paragraphs are not properly formatted Information on poster is not clearly presented 3 - Meets expectations Paragraphs are properly formatted Information on poster is neat and clearly presented 4 - Exceeds expectations Paragraphs contain effective transitions and ideas are explained in detail Information on the poster is neat and clearly presented, with detail 3 - Meets expectations Research notes for at least 2 sources are present All assigned project responsibilities are present 4 - Exceeds expectations Research notes for more than one resources are present and contain great detail The majority of assigned project responsibilities were completed Participation: 1 - Not enough information There are no research notes present Assigned project responsibilities are missing from the poster 2 - Does not meet expectations Research notes are minimal and lack detail Assigned project responsibilities are incomplete
