Message from Mrs. Saunders.......
In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed a bill
proclaiming November 11th as Veterans Day and called upon
Americans everywhere to rededicate themselves to the cause of
peace. He issued a Presidential Order directing the head of the
Veterans Administration, now the Department of Veterans
Affairs, to form a Veterans Day National Committee to organize
and oversee the national observance of Veterans Day.
Tomorrow, we come together as a Nation to thank and honor
Veterans for their service to our country. Tesoro del Valle
Elementary thanks the many Veterans who have served our
country to ensure the security, safety and well being of our
nation.

Prepare Your Property:


Check your property, clearing all private drains and rain gutters and
disposing of all trash and yard clippings/trimmings in green waste
containers.
If you have a rain barrel, check to make sure the downspouts are clear of
debris and that the connection is working properly. Be sure to remove the
overflow drain cover.
 Inspect
your roof to check for loose tiles, holes, or other
signs of trouble.

 Visually
inspect retaining wall drains, surface drains,
ditches, etc. for obstructions, or other signs of
malfunction. You should do this after the rain as well.
 As
a precaution, try to avoid having large bare areas
which could be sources for mudflows during a storm.
Add vegetation in these areas that may need it.
Prepare Your Vehicle
 The Lights
o Make sure all the vehicle lights inside and
outside are functioning properly.
o Check vehicle fuses.
 The Tires
o Traction is the key to good movement when turning
and stopping on wet surfaces. The deeper the
tread on your tires, the more water can be
channeled out from under the tire and the more
traction you'll have.
o Check your owner's manual or door frame for the
maximum pressure amount for your tires. Do not
go above that pressure point.
o Make sure to have the same tires on all four
wheels. This will keep your car stable.
o Insure that your spare tire is in good condition and
properly inflated.

The Brakes
o Have the brakes checked by your mechanic.
 The
Windshield Wipers
o Keep the windshield wiper reservoir full.
o Make sure wipers are in good condition (blades

that streak should be replaced). Replace your
windshield wipers at least once a year.
Keep the gas tank half full at all times.
Overall, be careful driving in the rain this season. Drive
slower, maintain a larger distance between you and the next
vehicle, and don't allow any distractions (cell phones, GPS,
radio) to keep you from driving safely!

Please remember to call the office before 9:00 a.m. the morning
that your student will be absent from school. The State of

are not acceptable. Please let us know if your child has a cold, is
vomiting, is out of town, etc. Thank you.
If you have any gently used children's clothing, we would be
happy to take it off your hands to use in the Health
Office. Suggestions: T-Shirts and shorts/pants with elastic
waistbands are perfect.

EASY EVERYDAY WAYS TO EARN MONEY FOR EDUCATION
Shoparoo app
Just get the Shoparoo app and simply upload your grocery
store receipts. You get points that translate into dollars for
Tesoro! Use the code vesk8892 and earn a bonus 100 points
once you submit your first receipt. Last year with only 10
active participants, we received $120!
Boxtops
Don't forget to keep clipping and saving BoxTops. Go to
BTFE.com and earn more BoxTops while online
shopping. Below are some additional ways to earn money for
our school:
Target RedCard
Apply for a Target Red card and designate Tesoro under
Target's "Take Charge of Education" program, and a
percentage of everything you spend at Target will go back to
our school. Tesoro's I.D. Number is 122726. The most recent
Target donation to Tesoro was $279.31 with only 33
participants.
Ralph's Community Contribution Program
New this year - we have a scan bar letter that you can print out
and take to Ralph's on your next shopping trip. Just present the
letter along with your Ralph's club card or phone number, and
Tesoro will start earning money every time you shop! The
scan bar letter eliminates having to go online to register.
ESCRIP Program
ESCRIP: Tesoro PTA promotesthe Escrip program. This is a
great way for Tesoro to earn more money, and a lot of the other
schools have had great success. You can go online and
register. Our PTA code is 500016673. Register your
Vons/Pavilions cards and earn rewards for the school. Also they
have an online mall which has even better rewards! So start your
online shopping at Escrip!
Here's How it Works
*You register any one or all of your existing grocery loyalty, debit and credit cards for use in
the program.
*Participating merchants will make contributions to your chosen group based on purchases
made by you, just by using the cards you have registered.
*Your purchases are tracked and available to you online, allowing you to see just how much
you are earning on your child's behalf!
Any questions, please contact diane.glaess@yahoo.com or for a
scan bar letter.
