This role profile is non-contractual and provided for guidance. It will be updated and amended from time to time
in accordance with the changing needs of the University and the requirements of the job.
PURPOSE OF ROLE:
The post holder will provide day to day support to Prof Keith Jones as he develops research proposals in the
area of sustainable built environments, climate change and facilities management. The post holder will work
closely with Professor Jones to frame research questions and undertaken small fieldwork studies to support the
preparation of research bids to UK and EU research funding organizations. The post holder will assist in the
production of research proposals, research publications and continuing professional development courses.
The post holder will work with Prof Jones and Prof Isaac to develop impact case studies and other outputs in
preparation for the 2014 REF.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Preparing literature reviews and producing state-of-the-art summaries in support of research proposals.
Coordinating and executing field tests to collect and analyse data in support of research bids.
Preparing draft reports summarizing the findings from field tests.
Assisting with the production of research reports/presentations and attendance at regular team meetings.
Assisting with the preparation of research proposals for submission to UK and EU funding bodies.
Assisting with the drafting of publications for inclusion in academic, trade and national publications.
Undertaking up to 3 hours a week teaching for the School of Architecture, Design & Construction.
Develop impact case studies and other outputs required for the REF 2014
Other duties as directed by Prof Jones.
Generic:
To support other members of SBERG in developing their research area under the guidance of Prof Jones
Managing Self
The post holder will be working closely with Professor Jones. The post holder will be expected to develop (in
consultation with Prof Jones) appropriate methodologies and work semi-independently on a range of research
issues. The post holder will be responsible for conducting their work in a timely and professional manner. The
post holder will be responsible for identifying any health and safety or ethical issues that arise from the work
programme they develop.

Additional Requirements:
Although this job is based at the University of Greenwich’s Avery Hill campus, the post holder must be prepared
