CODE OF ETHICS POLICY
9.2
It is the policy of the Jewish Community Center (Center) to provide services and programs to the
community according to the highest ethical standards. Maintaining the highest ethical standards is
critical in maintaining the public’s trust which demands the complete confidence of donors,
volunteers, employees, licensing organizations, government agencies and the community at large.
Employees and board members are expected to be of good character and to conduct all center
business with the highest level of honesty, integrity, fairness, transparency and respect.
As a professional, I pledge to abide by this policy, including:

Conducting myself in a lawful and honest manner with all members of the community
including but not limited to, vendors, members, program participants, donors, volunteers,
and fellow staff or board members.

Complying with the letter as well as the spirit of any applicable law.

Using the resources and assets of the Center in a responsible and wise manner.

Avoiding any potential conflict of interest and disclosing any potential conflict.
-
Exercising the best governance, practices and procedures possible.
-
Being aware of the Center’s reputation and not acting in any manner that would potentially
damage or harm that reputation in the community.

Complying with all established policies and procedures of the Center.
-
Maintaining the confidentiality of any proprietary information.
-
Acting in a manner that provides absolute transparency and that I make my intentions
known in all dealings.

Refusing to tolerate the discrimination or harassment of any individual.
-
Full, accurate and timely disclosure of any and all issues that may have a significant impact
on the Center’s reputation and perception in the community.
If at any time I suspect a fellow employee or board member has not fully complied with this code of
ethics policy it is my duty to report the violation immediately as outlined in the Whistleblower
policy.

some of the practices, policies and procedures relating to personnel matters as well as other matters
relating to my employment at the Center. This information may change from time to time to reflect
changes in the operation of the Center.
I acknowledge that this employee handbook is not a contract or part of a contract of employment
with the Center; that I am employed at will; and that both I and the Center may terminate the
employment relationship at any time, with or without cause and with or without notice.
I also agree to have any and all disputes, claims, questions or controversies arising out of my
application for employment and, if hired, my employment with and separation of employment from
the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City decided exclusively through final and binding
arbitration presided over by a single arbitrator pursuant to the Federal Arbitration Act, including
without limitation any and all employment discrimination claims under federal state or local law,
excluding any workers’ compensation or employment security (unemployment) claim. Venue of
any arbitration will be within a 25 mile radius of the Jewish Community Campus in Overland Park,
Kansas. In any arbitration, the Jewish Community Center of Greater Kansas City will bear the cost
of the arbitration and each party to bear its own cost and expense. I waive any and all rights to file
any action in a court of competent jurisdiction, whether the action filed would be tried to a jury or
tried to a court, based on any dispute, claim, question or controversy arising out of my application
for employment and, if hired, my employment with and separation of employment from the Jewish
Community Center of Greater Kansas City. Notwithstanding the foregoing, any arbitration award
may be filed for enforcement in a court of competent jurisdiction.

employee handbook dated January 2006, and that I have had the opportunity to discuss any matter
obtained in this employee handbook with management.

AUTHORIZATION FOR PAYROLL DEDUCTION
10.2
Submit to Payroll Coordinator
The undersigned authorizes a payroll deduction to cover and pay to Jewish Community Center of
Greater Kansas City ("Center"), any amount owed by me to the Center, including without
limitation, preschool, daycare and camp, for money advanced to me but not earned, for damage or
the non-return of Center property including keys, special equipment, vehicles or uniforms.
