(See daily locations below). Mon, June 29: PARMELEE ADVENTURE! Discover our diverse habitats. Take a hike with a local naturalist, learn the history of the farm and survival techniques, including building emergency shelters and first aid. Tue, June 30: CHATFIELD HOLLOW STATE PARK CHALLENGE! Hike the Witches Trail, fish the waterways with handmade fishing equipment, and campfire hotdog cookout for lunch. No need to bring lunch today we’ll have a picnic lunch all set for you! Wed, July 1: THE CONNECTICUT RIVER MUSEUM WILD RIVER SAILING. Today we will be visiting the museum, exploring the flora and fauna of the CT River while learning to sail the Mary E Schooner. Thurs, July 2: ROCKING AND ROWING AT HAMMO! We’ll spend the day with our Ranger Friends exploring the 3 shoreline ecosystems, crabbing and canoeing the Hammonassett River. Fri., July3: TIME TO EXPLORE BOB’S POND. We will explore 3 different water systems; pond, stream, and vernal pool. We’ll do some fishin’, water testin’, and exporin’! Let’s see what Killingworth’s Bob’s Pond has to offer (directions will be givin’) (2) KNEE HIGH NATURE: Pre-K (Age 4 by Sept 1) Mon-Fri, July 6 - July 10, 9:00-11:15. $100 A full week at PNC jam-packed with nature, songs, games, books, and adventure! *BRING YOUR OWN SNACK AND DRINK EVERY DAY! Mon. July 6: HAPPY TRAILS! Hike with us over the meadow and through the woods. Learn about the wonderful world of plants and animals along our trail, and share the excitement with your fellow campers. Tues, July 7: CAPTIVATING CRITTERS! Take a close-up look at Killingworth’s spiders, bugs, and beetles. Discover who and what shares our neighborhood. Then we’ll read, do a craft, and sing about our local 2 and 4-legged friends! Wed, July 8: FLOWER POWER! Let’s learn all about our local flowers and plants: their names, where they grow, and how they provide for us. Then dig into a planting project craft! Thurs, July 9: BUTTERFLIES AND FRIENDS! Fly on in for a butterfly, moth, and caterpillar adventure! Then grab a net to catch someone on the wing! Fri, July 10: FROG LEGS AND FISH TAILS! We’ll learn all about some of Killingworth’s slimiest creatures from garden, woods, and wetlands. Join our “PET FOR A DAY SHOW AND TELL” *Bring along a small critter in a vented container. (3) STEP UP AND ALONG!: Entering K, Mon-Fri, July 13th -17th, 9:00-11:15. $100 A week of NATURE ADVENTURES full of songs, crafts, books and awesome exploration! *BRING YOUR OWN SNACK AND DRINK EACH DAY! Mon, July 13: HIT THE TRAIL! Let’s brave the wilds of our PNC trail! We’ll explore the meadow, woods, and wetlands looking and listening for plants and animals that live in each. Nets and binocs supplied for all. Tues, July 14: NUTS ABOUT SQUIRRELS AND CHIPMUNKS! Learn about these friendly critters; where they live, what they eat, and what they do throughout the year. Then we’ll be making new friends, and playing great games. Wed, July 15: SUPER SLIMY SLUGS AND SNAILS! Discover our most misunderstood slimy friends from the garden, woods, and wetlands through stories, crafts, games and songs! Then join our “Pet for a Day!” *Bring along a small critter in a vented container! Thurs, July 16: DIGGING INTO THE PAST! Calling all junior paleontologists - no bones about it, we’ll learn from our own dino research, with our own dino dig! We’ll dig up the ultimate day of dinosaur fun with dinosaur books, songs, and crafts! Fri, July 17: GRAB A NET AND GO FISH! Join us at Chatfield Hollow for a catch and release day of adventure! You won’t have to talk about the fish that got away. We’ll scoop up a slew of swimming, squirming, and jumping critters - nets for all. *Bring a towel, hiking and water shoes! **Drop-off and pick-up at the park entrance! (4) STOP, LOOK AND LISTEN: Entering grades 1 and 2. Due to the popularity of this program it is being offered both the week of July 6th-10th or July 13th-17th, 12:00-3:00 PM. Tues, July 7 or July 14: SQUIRMY WORMS AND SQUIGGLY SNAKES! We’ll explore the lives and habitats of these wonderfully wiggly, and sometimes slimy, friends. What they do, where they live, who needs them, and where they fit into our ecosystem. Then we’ll celebrate our slimy friends with a sssssssensational craft! Wed, July 8 or July 15: JACKS MAGIC BEANS! Discover the hows and whys of seeds; who depends on seeds, how they’re produced, and what they are. *Join our “Wild Wonders Show” - Bring along a small critter in a vented container! Thurs, July 9 or July 16: EXPLORE AND DISCOVER! Join us for a backwoods adventure! Travel back in time to discover the awesome power of nature and the changes a little water and ice can make. We’re off to visit real Native American Rock Shelter, created long, long ago! *Drop-off and pick-up at the caves! Fri, July 10 or July 17: YAY! CHATFIELD HOLLOW, WOO HOO! We’ll be finishing out the week with a Woo Hooo! It will be a day filled with hiking, critter catching, and water adventure! Mon, July 20: CALLING ALL TRAIL TREKKIES! Team up with your fellow naturalists to explore our Platt meadow, woods and trails. We’ll mix it up back at camp with more sensational indoor fun! Then team up for an afternoon of in-your-face, at-your-feet Nature Fun! *Drop-off and pick-up at PNC! Tues, July 24: FABULOUS PARMELEE FARM! Discover the wonders of Killingworth’s newest attraction, a trail walk with a local naturalist, a tour of the community garden and spend an afternoon doing a little pond exploration. *Drop-off and pick-up at Parmelee farm! Wed, July 25: HAMMONASSET EXTREME ADVENTURE! Adventure and exploring Hammonasset’s beach and marshes. Visit Meig’s Point Nature Center, use our nets to capture and release awesome sea creatures and crabs. We’ll also build sand castles! *Bring dry extra clothes, water shoes, towel, sunscreen, and a hat! **Drop-off and pick-up at Meigs point – no park fee required! Thurs, July 26: ANIMAL FARM! Discover how during the colonial times much of day-to-day activities depended on nature! We’ll hike up the road to a farm to learn first-hand about the importance of keeping sheep, bees, gardening and what chores you might have done back-in-theday! *Drop-off and pick-up at PNC! Fri, July 27: CHATFIELD HOLLOW CHALLENGE! We’ll be exploring caves, hiking the trails, fishing for critters, and picnicking to celebrate our last day! *Bring along a picnic item to share!
