Russian Language Training Programs at OSPU
Omsk State Pedagogical University welcomes international students to attend the
Russian Language Training Programs. Having an extensive experience in training international
students, OSPU provides an opportunity to study Russian as a foreign language in a natural
academic and cultural environment.
The Department of Russian as a Foreign Language has been a fixture of the School of
Philology in Omsk State Pedagogical University since 1991. Nowadays the department has a
great experience in teaching foreign students with different proficiency in Russian, including
ones who have never studied Russian before. The teaching staff regularly attend refresher
courses at universities in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tomsk, Novosibirsk and have participant
certificates. The citizens of Austria, Belgium, Germany, Egypt, Italy, Kazakstan, China,
Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Netherlands, Slovakia, the USA, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Turkey,
Ukraine, Uzbekistan, France, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Sweden, South Korea and Japan
have studied at the University during the last two years.
Russian Language Training Programs (both individual and in groups) are available in
different lengths of time (from 1 month to 1 year). Individual course is set up according to the
students’ proficiency of Russian and the goals they would like to accomplish.
Russian Language Training Programs Fees:
1) group studies (4-10 students):
8000 rub./month (20 academic hours per week);
2) individual studies:
1 student - 550 rub. /hour;
2-3 students – 440 rub. /hour.
Since 2005 in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Russian
Federation and Russian Consulate General in Strasbourg (France), as part of the Agreement of
Cooperation with Klagenfurt University (Austria), Summer School of Russian Language and
Country Studies is held in OSPU. In the last 2 years more than 100 foreign citizens have
attended Summer School and got familiar with sights of both Omsk city and Omsk District.
Summer School of Russian Language and Country Studies offers tree-weeks intensive Russian
language course (30 hours/week), including an introduction to Russian culture and excursion
activities. The program costs 16,000 Rubles (discounts for second-(or more) time participants
and students from partner-universities are available).
Several times a year, teachers of the department hold the State Testing of Russian as a
Foreign Language (TORFL) which has been organized by OSPU’s Division of International
Cooperation since 2000.
Currently, the department is working on a new program called “Business Russian”, which
is meant to teach the Russian language on a professional level to non-philological students,
specifically economists, ecologists, lawyers, etc.
Accommodation
OSPU international students live in the special block of the OSPU Residence Hall in
double rooms. Each section of the block has a kitchen, living room, laundry and shower cabins.
Fee for housing: 1137.13 rub./month
