Integrating Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment into a Family Health Center and a
Family Medicine Curriculum
Applying for a grant:
Hypothesis: Initiating OMT in the second trimester in low risk obstetric populations
reduces pregnancy related back pain on standardized, validated surveys.
Objective: Our pilot study aims to show that there is a beneficial role of osteopathic
manipulation treatment (OMT) for improving patient comfort, minimizing unnecessary
visits to the hospital and triage settings, and to access the improvement of lower back
pain in pregnancy.
