Clarifications Primary care – this was categorised broadly according to the UK definitions, such as this one at the Department of Health website – http://www.dh.gov.uk/health/category/policy-areas/nhs/primary-care/ Much of the research had a UK (rather than global) focus, for example the Intestinal Infectious Disease study that assessed gastrointestinal illness within GP surgeries. Malaria typically belongs in the crosscutting theme of haematological infections (as well as parasitology, global health and other categories as appropriate), though there may be exceptions such as studies explicitly investigating cerebral malaria or hypnozoite liver stages. 12
