Alumni Friends of The University of Queensland Inc is a body incorporated under the Associations Incorporations Act 1981 (QLD). Its Mission is to promote and further the interests of The University of Queensland and to foster mutually beneficial relations amongst its Alumni and those in the wider community with an interest in the University. The Association grants funds to the University and its various organisations for activities, projects, purchases, student activities and scholarships within The University of Queensland through the UQ Alumni Trust for which it is the Trustee. All approved funding is paid to The University of Queensland and the decision of Alumni Friends of The University of Queensland Inc in allocating funding is final. How to Apply Applications are to be submitted to Alumni Friends of The University of Queensland Inc using this official Application Form. Applications must include the following: 1. A completed Application Form (see attached); 2. A written statement addressing the Guidelines (maximum of three A4 pages); 3. A project budget detailing the allocation of funding requested; 4. A Letter of Support from the Executive Dean or Head of University Unit; Applications may also include supporting evidence: media clippings, electronic media footage, photographs etc. While no closing date is applicable, a minimum of two (2) months’ duration applies to application processing. Guidelines To be considered for funding, the Application must address these Guidelines: 1. The project must have a high profile and enhance the standing of Alumni Friends both within The University of Queensland and the wider community ; 2. The project should increase the breadth of research and resource material within The University of Queensland and should be of a prestigious nature; 3. Projects which could be part-funded, by the University Faculty or School proposing them, are encouraged; 4. Applications for funding from University organizations along with student activities, purchases or projects must be approved by the relevant University Faculty or School through either an application from the University Unit on behalf of the student/s or a Letter of Support from the Executive Dean or Head of the University Unit. 5. 6. The funding request should be for one purpose only but within a proposal there may be several items. A project budget is required as part of the application; The project must be capable of rapid implementation by the University; 7. Involvement from more than one University Faculty or School in the project would be highly regarded; 8. The project should have the ability to attract support from sources external to The University of Queensland; 9. University approvals for space allocation, construction and equipment [applicable to the project] are required prior to final application approval; 10. Only one-off funding each year applies. No additional funds will be available for maintenance or recurrent costs incurred by the project; 11. No funding will be made available for the salaries component of any project; 12. Except for annual fellowships already approved by the University Senate, a new application is required each year for projects requiring an additional grant; 13. Successful applications will need to acknowledge Alumni Friends of The University of Queensland in all written collateral and public addresses. Minimum requirements will be contained within the Funding Agreement issued to all successful applicants. Applications not fulfilling the above Guidelines will not be considered.
