Coroner/Funeral Services Liaison The Coroner/Funeral Services Liaison is responsible for developing and maintaining effective relationships and communication with key Coroners and Funeral Directors throughout the Donor Alliance service area to help facilitate the organ and tissue donation process, increase non-hospital referrals, and increase Donor Alliance visibility within the coroner and funeral home communities. Responsibilities include: o Builds and maintains relationships with Coroners and Funeral Directors. o Markets, develops, and implements development activities and professional education programs to funeral homes, law enforcement agencies, EMS, and State and County Coroners/Medical Examiners. o Develop and implement successful systems to ensure referrals of non-hospital deaths for tissue donation evaluation. o Routinely follows up on funeral homes via personal visit or by telephone following each donor. o Maintains active role in funeral service and coroner’s associations. o Maintains effective relationships with existing contacts. o Creates/initiates effective relationships with new contacts. o Utilizes Coroners and Funeral Directors to assist Donor Alliance in creating a working partnership. o Expedites acquisition of autopsy reports for Donor Alliance. o Presents to groups regarding organ and tissue donation. o Identify educational deficits and provide appropriate education. o Identify and resolve issues that impede the donor process. o Consistently analyzes quantitative and qualitative data to determine effectiveness of implemented action plans. o Coordinates education programs in conjunction with Donor Alliance education staff aimed at addressing the educational deficits. o Facilitates the Coroner’s and Mortuary Advisory Committees. QUALIFICATIONS o Bachelor degree in a related field and/or equivalent work experience required. o Three to five years related work experience in death investigation or related field required. o Certified Death Investigator credential preferred. o Strong and effective interpersonal skills required in order to communicate effectively the medical community and general public, as well as, partnering agencies, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team required. o Ability to practice a high degree of autonomy in a self-directed manner, demonstrating innovation and creativity in problem solving, sound critical analysis and judgment. o Previous experience analyzing and interpreting statistical data preferred. o Prior experience within the healthcare field is preferred. o Proficiency in the use of computer equipment and software, including but not limited to, Windows environment (Word, Excel, Outlook – Intermediate to Advanced skills) required.
