Dear brothers and sisters, through the Paschal
2
Mystery we have been buried with Christ in Baptism,
3
so that we may walk with him in newness of life. And
4
so, let us renew the promises of Holy Baptism, by
5
which we once renounced Satan and his works and
6
promised to serve God in the holy Catholic Church.
7
And so I ask you:
8
Do you renounce Satan? [I do.]
9
And all his works? [I do.]
10
And all his empty show? [I do.]
11
Do you renounce sin, so as to live in freedom of the
12
children of God? [I do.]
13
Do you renounce the lure of evil, so that sin may have
14
no mastery over you? [I do.]
15
Do you renounce Satan, the author and prince of sin?
16
[I do.]

Do you believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of
18
heaven and earth? [I do.]
19
Do you believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
20
who was born of the Virgin Mary, suffered death and

was buried, rose again from the dead and is seated at
22
the right hand of the Father? [I do.]

Do you believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic
24
Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of
25
sins, the resurrection of the body, and life
26
everlasting? [I do.]
27
And may almighty God, the Father of our Lord Jesus
28
Christ, who has given us new birth by water and the
29
Holy Spirit and bestowed on us forgiveness of our
30
sins, keep us by his grace, in Christ Jesus our Lord, for
31
eternal life. [AMEN.]

(Prayer): My dear friends, in Baptism God our Father
2
gave the new birth of eternal life to his chosen sons
3
and daughters. Let us pray to our Father that he will
4
pour out the Holy Spirit to strengthen his sons and
5
daughters with his gifts and anoint them to be more
6
like Christ the Son of God. (All pray in silence.)
7
All-powerful God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, by
8
water and the Holy Spirit you freed your sons and
9
daughters from sin and gave them new life. Send your
10
Holy Spirit upon them to be their Helper and Guide.
11
Give them the spirit of wisdom and understanding,
12
the spirit of right judgment and courage, the spirit of
13
knowledge and reverence. Fill them with the spirit of
14
wonder and awe in your presence. We ask this
15
through Christ our Lord. AMEN.
