Forensic Plastcs Set.
Used for forensic and separating of mixtures section of the curriculumn. The Specific Gravity
of plastics test set enables the relative density of the plastic to be tested. The unknown plastic
sample is placed in 1 of the 4 liquids of known density; if the plastic floats then it's density is
less than that of the liquid; if it sinks then it is greater. Plastics analysis: polythene (0.9),
polystyrene (1.05), pvc (1.39), fibre glass (1.8) and includes liquids of different specific
gravity: liquid 1 (0.7), liquid 2 (1.0), liquid 3 (1.2), liquid 4 (1.5). The plastic samples are
small (5mm).
