Ribbons will be awarded in all departments. Judges have the right to withhold ribbons if no exhibit meets judges’ standard of quality. Cash premiums are awarded for first, second, and third place. All decisions of the judges are final.
1 st place – Blue Ribbon Cash Award $2.00
2 nd Place - Red Ribbon Cash Award $1.00
3 rd Place – White Ribbon Cash Award $0.50
There will be two divisions in each department. Youth Division is for participants age 6-17 years old and under. Adult Division is for participants ages 18 years old and over.
These rules apply to all departments and categories:
All items for exhibition must be the handiwork of, or produced by the exhibitor, and have never been previously exhibited in the Amelia County Fair.
Amelia residents or residents of the State of Virginia may enter items.
The Fair assumes no responsibility in the case of loss or damage to exhibits.
Any insurance desired on an entry must be carried by the exhibitor.
No exhibitor will be allowed to remove, handle, or rearrange the exhibit prior to the end of the Fair.
An identification tag will be attached to the article at the time of entry, and a duplicate claim ticket is to be retained by the exhibitor until Sunday, September 11,
2016.
Exhibit items may be picked up on Sunday, September 11, 2016 between the hours of
9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
No person will receive awards and premiums (cash) for entries until the day of pickup.
Entries may not be removed before Sunday, September 11, 2016.
There will be two divisions: Youth – 17 and under Adult – 18 and over
All youth will be judged together, and all adults will be judged together. All rules and awards apply to each section in all departments. Entries must be placed in a clear plastic bag to prevent them from becoming dusty at the Fair.

Contest open to amateur writers – those who do not sell works of writing, teach writing, and/or poetry and/or advertise as a professional writer.
Any subject matter accepted with the following exception: the Fair Committee reserves the right to reject entries it determines to be pornographic, inflammatory, or offensive to community sensitivities.
Any style verse is accepted, but must have a title.
Each poem is limited to a maximum of 16 lines.
Each poem must be typed on a sheet of 8-1/2 by 11 paper.
Each poem must be in a transparent cover sheet or be laminated.

1.
All horticulture must be grown by the exhibitor or in exhibitor’s possession for a minimum of 90 days.

1.
All designs must be the work of the exhibitor. Flowers used in designs do not have to be grown by the exhibitor.
