Its mission is “dedicated to sharing the art and stories of our common African heritage with audiences from around the world.” The museum opens at 11:00 a.m. and the general admission is $10 for adults and $5 for seniors. The Students of the African Diaspora (StAD) is an association for all students of African descent enrolled in any of the SFTS certificate, diploma, or degree programs. Founded in 2013, StAD seeks to support its members for academic success and to provide cultural and social activities that foster a familial and nurturing environment. StAD is additionally tasked to assist in attracting and retaining students and alumni of African descent. The seminary is grateful for StAD’s leadership in the reunion worship services and Friday morning’s film presentation. The Rev. Laurie Garrett-Cobbina, Assistant Professor of Pastoral Care and Education and the Shaw Chair for CPE, is the faculty liaison for StAD, and the Rev. Ineda Adesanya (’14) is the president. Dr. Herman Waetjen will be selling and signing copies of his latest book, The Letter to the Romans: Salvation as Justice and the Deconstruction of Law, on Friday morning. Copies of the SFTS History by Drs. Coote and Hadsel will also be on sale along with other fine SFTS gifts.
