Trust Fundraiser – Role Description Hours Salary 21 hours per week, permanent £18,000 per annum, pro rata (£12,000) The Orpheus Centre is a learning centre in Surrey that increases the confidence and skills of disabled young adults through the performing arts. We believe that every young disabled person should have the same opportunities as their non-disabled peers. Orpheus was founded in 1998 and is a rapidly developing, fast paced organisation. We are a small, local charity with big ambitions. This Post works directly with the Head of Fundraising to secure income from charitable trusts, foundations, lottery and statutory funders to meet annual targets. The post holder develops funding bids and reports as well as researching potential new funders. The post provides scope for both personal and professional development. A tailored support and training package will be provided where necessary. Key Responsibilities and Duties: Programme growth and development Work with the Head of Fundraising to develop and implement the trust fundraising strategy, and ensure that targets are met Support the Head of Fundraising in writing large grant applications to trusts and foundations and lottery funders Take the lead on the preparation of smaller grant applications Research potential funding opportunities that reflect Orpheus’s organisational priorities eg Charitable Trusts, Foundations, Statutory bodies, Corporate funds Stewardship Help develop relationships with existing and potential funders to maximise long term support including maintaining appropriate communication with existing and potential funders, either by telephone, email or in writing To submit funding reports in a timely manner Record all income, actions and correspondence from trusts and foundations on the organisational database and on salesforce Attend events, conferences and networking opportunities Represent Orpheus externally at events Cross organisational work Develop funding proposals in collaboration with other departments General responsibilities and duties Conduct the duties of the job description in accordance with the operational policies of Orpheus, including but not limited to the diversity policy and code of conduct Maintain good working relations with Trustees, staff, volunteers and other stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication skills 2. The ability to present complex information in a structured way 3. Excellent attention to detail 4. Excellent organisational skills 5. Experience of working on multiple projects at once 6. Ability to think laterally and produce original materials 7. Ability to work flexibly in a team with enthusiasm and commitment 8. Good information technology skills including word, excel and email 9. Experience of working towards financial and other targets Desirable 1. Experience of completing successful funding applications 2. Degree level education or equivalent 3. Experience in fundraising or related field 4. Proven track record of being able to conduct effective research 5. Experience of managing budgets 6. Knowledge of databases 7. Experience of planning meetings, setting agendas and taking minutes (either paid or voluntary) 8. Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage a varied workload 9.
