1. Call to order at 12:06 pm.
2. Executive Board Reports

President
o Welcoming new and returning Senators
o Working on compensating for GSG advisor that was removed from the
position.
o Meeting with the new Provost to make them understand the requirement
for a faculty and admin advisor to GSG. Focusing on better engagement
with the Career Center
o Meeting with Assistant Dean, Phil He on communicating the need for a
faculty advisor
o Deadline for Dissertation Completion Grant Application is Oct 21
o Welcome Event- Husky Hump Brunch had a great turn out- Over 200
people attended.
o We spoke at different orientation events which was for
o GSG’s 20 years so a lot of event planned for the year.
o GSG representatives met with CSSH Dean on stipend issue and was able
to get a raise for graduate student assistants at CSSH.


o GSG Newsletter to be organized and work with Provost
o Ideas for new awards for graduate students. Existing awards are limited to
schools and come up with awards that are relevant to all schools and
departments.

Finance
o Introduction from the new VP
o Period III- 93 students were awarded funding in the period
o Priority to those who are presenting themselves than those who are just
attending a conference.
o $100,000 allocated for the academic year, 2015-16.

Programs & Admins
o Duck Tour this Friday
o Volunteers for barbeque event

Media & Membership
o Carried out communications with various Schools for speaking at their
orientation programs.
o Focused on contacting graduate students and encouraging them to become
Senators.
o A total of 55 Senators from all of the Colleges or Schools except the
Management School. This includes 5 Senators from the E-board
o Updated GSG’s website and working on making it more dynamic.
o Will be working on building a GSG 20th yr anniversary page. If you would
like to volunteer, please get in touch with VP of Media & Membership.
3. Presentation by the Career Center Personnel for graduate students, Sharri Harmel

Programs designed especially for graduate students
o Differentiating CVs of grad students from the undergrads
o Job search process for leveraging your Masters and PhD
o Finding out your strengths and how to talk about them
o Self-assessments and building skills that will be useful
o Building resumes and cover letters
o Webinars on interviewing and negotiating job offers.

4. Presentation by Black Law Students Association (BLSA) , Co-chair of BLSA

Student Chapter of National Black Law Students Association

The most active group on campus

To promote educations, professional and political and social needs of black law
students.

Kemet (Black in Egyptian) Chapter: Very Successful

Open to those who identify with and support the mission of BLSA

Activities- speaker sessions- guest speakers, engagement with other similar active
groups in Boston area.

