Boys Varsity Tennis Tryouts
The varsity tennis team will consist of freshman/sophomore/juniors & seniors. The best players
are selected in terms of ability, hitting, serving, tennis skills, potential, fitness, attitude, and the
needs of the program. The selection will be made after February 20th with more selections
following as seen necessary by the coaching staff.
The following is a list of times and dates for tennis tryouts. Due to the availability of courts it is
important that all players arrive on time, so we can begin practice as scheduled.
Thursday, February 11 @ 3:15pm Edgewood Tennis Courts
Saturday, February 13 @ 10am Covina HS Tennis Courts
Tuesday, February 16 @ 3:15pm Try-out Edgewood Tennis Courts
Wednesday, February 17 @ 3:15pm Try-out Edgewood Tennis Courts
Thursday, February 18 @ 3:15pm Try-out Edgewood Tennis Courts
Saturday, February 20 @ 3:15pm Try-out Covina HS Tennis Courts
For those that make the team, practice will commence on February 22 and continue 5 days a
week until May 6.
PHYSICALS
ALL Candidates must have the Athletic Packet finished and Physical form completed by a
doctor. All forms must be turned into Mrs. Franco in the athletic office before the first
scheduled tryout date or YOU will not be able to try out. The Athletic Packet & physical
forms are available in the athletic office.
EQUIPMENT
Sneakers or tennis shoes, white socks, tennis racket, water, and a light T-shirt with your
name written in big, black, visible letters on the front and back of shirt and it should be
worn by all players, or appropriate tennis apparel.
DIRECTIONS
Edgewood – Orange Ave north, Right on Merced, Tennis Courts are on the right.
Covina HS 463 S Hollenbeck Ave Covina, CA 91723 – Fairgrove Ave east to Sunset Left.,
go to Rowland Ave., and turn right, go past Azusa Ave., and the school is on the corner
of Rowland and Hollenbeck.
