All teams will travel home independently from Cotswold Farm Park. Individual members will call home prior to finishing on the last day to allow parents good time to travel to the collection points. (Approx 1-2 hours before their estimated finishing times). We anticipate teams finishing between 3pm and 5pm subject to expedition conditions. Team Food As you already know you are feeding and cooking for yourselves. You need to plan enough food to bring for the whole team to share. You need to provide food, we will not be providing it. Please remember to bring 20% extra and snacks for the final afternoon. Bronze Teams: you need to bring food for Sat lunch, Sat dinner, Sun breakfast, Sun Lunch and any snacks you want. You must make a hot meal each day, so normally bring a picnic lunch for Saturday and Sunday, cook at the campsite Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Accommodation We will be staying at the following sites: Saturday Night: Folly Farm Campsite Showers are available at some sites but will require 50p pieces. 2 Personal Equipment The weather is going to be variable during the day and at night – plan for it being cooler, hotter and wetter than advised though. This means layers of thin warm clothing and good waterproofs and boots. You MUST carry waterproofs (coat and overtrousers), it is a condition of the event – PLEASE DO NOT FORGET THEM. YOU WILL NOT PARTICIPATE WITHOUT THEM. If your boots are new you MUST break them in before you go on the trip by using them for AT LEAST an hour a day between now and the departure day. A kit list is provided on the last page, but the important items are here: Good warm sleeping bag, carried in a dry bag. Sleeping mat (We have plenty of the foam versions). Waterproofs: the weather can still be very changeable at this time of year. Proper walking boots are essential, you need to make sure you have boots, not cross trainers, shoes etc. You will need a good level of foot and ankle support. If you don’t have them you need to get them. Look for a boot with a good leather upper, or a water resistant soft outer. Don’t spend a fortune, but don’t skimp either!! Torch/head torch Borrowing Equipment Personal Equipment (in addition to that already with you) If you need to borrow personal equipment you are welcome to do so. The equipment will be loaned free of charge, provided it is returned clean, dry and in the same condition it is borrowed in. However, there are some requirements as follows: The equipment comes back!! The equipment is returned CLEANER than when it was loaned out – if the equipment is new this might be difficult but you get the picture: we REQUIRE you to look after the kit!! Any repairs are carried out before returning the equipment – please check with us for guidance on repairs first. Tents are hung out to air for at least two days, both inside and out. Please remove any marks that are on them, DO NOT WASH THEM!!!! We require all equipment back to the first meeting after the loan unless otherwise advised. Each item we loan out is numbered; if we don’t receive it back we will charge the person who it was loaned to for the replacement of it whether or not the individual returns another item of that type. We hold a deposit cheque of £25 lodged with us when the initial equipment was taken – the cheque will not be banked unless necessary, we will be returning this cheque to you when the equipment is returned to our satisfaction. The deposits will be retained to replace missing, damaged, wet or dirty equipment. The decision of the coordinator is final on this point. We do not have cleaning facilities at Arden. 3 A list of equipment is supplied on the loan form that follows Team Equipment Team members will be required to order the equipment they require for their team in advance.
