Dear Parents, Welcome to kindergarten visitation! The first few weeks of school are a big adjustment. This letter contains some reminders and information you may find useful before we meet at Back to School Night on September 14th. Morning Information ● Students can enter the front doors and move to the gym at 8:10 without parents to wait for the bell. ● School begins at 8:20 ● Students are considered late after 8:25 and will need to be signed in at the main office. Take Home Folder ● Please check it every night and return it to school every day. ● Please remove old papers, projects, and/or forms on a daily or weekly basis. ● Please place all notes, money, forms, etc. in the folder. ● I will check the folder every morning at school. Snack Information ● Students will have snack time every morning. ● Please send a nutritious snack with your child every day in his/her backpack. You may also send a small juice box or water bottle along with the snack. ● There will always be “emergency snack” available for the students in the rare instance that snack is forgotten. ● If possible, please separate snack from lunch to lessen any confusion over what to eat at snack time. Recess We play outside every day prior to lunch. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately. Once winter time arrives, hats and mittens are a must. Lunch Information ● Students may bring a lunch from home or buy lunch. There is not a microwave available to heat lunches brought from home. ● To buy lunch, students can either bring in money ($) on the day of the purchase or use their lunch ticket. Parents can buy a lunch ticket from the cafeteria. A letter from the cafeteria will be sent home regarding purchasing lunch tickets, as well as, a lunch menu. Just because a lunch ticket is bought does not mean your child needs to buy a lunch every day. It is kept at school and available whenever your child wants to buy lunch or if they forget their own lunch. If your child enjoys school lunches, I highly recommend buying a lunch ticket. Extra Clothes ● From time to time, children may need to get changed at school due to a spill, paint, mud, etc. ● Please send in a change of clothes in a bag labeled with your child’s name (a large Ziplock works well). Label Everything ● Please label everything with your child’s name including: coat, backpack, lunchbox, etc. Birthdays ● We love birthdays! We will celebrate every child’s birthday! ● Please let me know if you are planning on sending in treats for your child’s birthday. Please drop treats off in the main office as early as possible so we may celebrate at our convenience. Parents are encouraged to send in nonedible birthday treats. ● Please be aware that I cannot distribute birthday invitations at school unless the entire class is invited. Dismissal ● Students will be dismissed at 3:18 through the side door of the building near the parking lot. ● If your child will be picked up by someone other than you, please place a note in your child’s folder or email me prior to the start of the school day to inform me of the change. If the change occurs during the day, please call the main office and they will inform me. It is not always possible for me to check email throughout the day. Below is the schedule for our class specials. Please keep in mind that students need to wear sneakers on Tuesdays and Fridays for Physical Education. Students will be taking books from the library every Wednesday. Please help remind your child to bring his/her book back each week. Last but not least, Art can be messy so please dress accordingly.
