Environment Committee Terms of Reference 1. To advise and make recommendations to the University Executive on all aspects of sustainability and the promotion of social responsibility within the University; 2. To promote the continual improvement of the University's social and environmental performance beyond compliance towards sustainability; 3. To assist in ensuring the integration of environmental and sustainable principles into operational procedures and in promoting best practice at every level of the University’s activities, including the use (and disposal) of materials, energy management, landscape management and transport, etc.; 4. To monitor environmental performance indicators to help assess current and future levels of environmental performance; 5. To assist in setting objectives and targets to prevent pollution and mitigate the University’s significant environmental impacts, including developing and monitoring carbon footprint, reduction targets and formulating strategies to minimise impacts; 6. To assist officers of the University in maintaining awareness of any relevant legislation and to advise the University on legislative compliance as necessary; 7. To monitor the implementation of the Environmental Policy and report as appropriate; 8. To promote the engagement of the University’s curriculum and research with issues relating to sustainability and social responsibility; 9. To monitor the management of the University’s Environmental Management System (EcoCampus); 10.
