Economics The mock exam will be a mixture of paper 1 and paper 2 (Micro and Macro Economics). It will be a mixture of multiple choice and data response questions. The exam paper will last 1 hour 30 minutes. 1. Coursework should now have been submitted to subject teachers. Folder consists of 1 piece of Creative Writing (750 words) and an analytic commentary (750 words). Students are able to continue to re-draft the folder after the deadline date in their own time. Practice papers Question 1 - analyse Text 1 Question 2 - analyse Text 2 Question 3 - comparison of the 2 texts Paper 2: Language varieties (1 hr 30) Section A: Choice of 2 questions. Students are given data and asked to respond to the data to discuss issues language and diversity, which they have studied in class. Section B: Students are given a text which discusses attitudes to language diversity. They are to use the ideas in the text to write a discursive essay about their ideas and feelings towards language. Film Studies Paper Two One hour Comparison of the two 'supernatural' novels, Dracula and The Picture of Dorian Gray An examination of the 3 key areas for assessment in Y12. There will be a section on the wider film industry, British film (Boundaries and belonging) and the American Film Industry (original King Kong and the remake). The exam will last 2 and a half hours, and each section should take about 45 mins. Learn of key quotes; Recap key passages; Create revision cards for each character and each theme; Create Comparison Tables to connect ideas Students will have past exam questions to revise from, especially for the wider film industry section. For both British and American film, students will have numerous class room notes and screen shot annotations. It is advisable for them to re watch the films before the exam, if possible. Further Maths Further Maths students will complete two 90 minute exams in Further Pure 1 and Decision 1, these cover all the work completed with Mr Fenton. Students will be given some past exam papers to complete. Don't forget how useful MyMaths can be with all areas of Core and the majority of areas on D1. Geography Students will complete a mock unit 1 Global Challenges paper in examination conditions. The duration of the exam will be 1 hour 30 minutes. There is the opportunity for students to purchase a CGP revision guide from school which is specific to the specification we follow. English Lit Students will answer questions on all of these units in section A worth 65 marks and will then focus on one of these areas in section B, worth 25 marks. Question 1 will be compulsory, it will ask you to examine two sources in great detail, explaining which gives the most valuable evidence when investigating a specific event in the French Revolution. You will then choose between Question 1 and question 2. Both are essay- type questions that will ask you to investigate a specific event in the French Revolution. Exam: Unit 1 WJEC GCE ICT Code: 1241/01 Length of Exam: 1 Hour 30 Minutes 12D/IT1 plus 4 Y13 students Maths All students, including those studying Further Maths, will complete a 90 minute Core 1 paper. This will cover all the topics taught so far plus integration. MFL: French Reading / Listening / writing - 2 hours Speaking test 20 minutes Explain – looking for detail and examples Analyse – break down the info into separate parts. Add in detail. Draw conclusions where appropriate. Focus on literacy and sentence starters, essay structure and quality of written communication. Spelling, grammar, punctuation. Rule of three points maximum for a level 3 answer! Past paper questions to be completed using the above techniques. These can be accessed on zdrive:/HSC/AS level/unit 1/OCR past papers. Mark schemes are also available to check through content and levels. These could be used to create ‘WAGOLL’. Use feedback written on end of topic tests, learn from past mistakes and use the information you have improved in green pen. Notes from lessons to be used to revise content. Undertake active revision. This includes making flashcards, mind maps or re-writing notes AND testing yourself on these. A revision booklet will also be provided. This will contain past paper questions and space for you to make notes. Textbooks are also available in S12. Use all booklets to revise. You need to be in a position whereby you can produce a detailed spider diagram for each topic and then reproduce this without reference to your notes. Students will be issued with copies of an excellent revision workbook we purchased from Zig Zag Education a few years ago which is highly rated by both staff and students. Students all have their Pure Core Maths text book, at the end of each chapter there are ‘Test yourself’ sections which they should aim to complete without using their notes.
