Essay & Speaking Test
In the place of a formal written test for this chapter you will be expected
to complete an essay and create an interactive presentation using the
current chapter’s vocabulary
Essay
Think about your bedroom. What furniture do you have? What color is the
room? Is it big or small? Now think about what your ultimate or ideal
bedroom would look like. What changes would you make to your
bedroom? What kinds of things would you add into the room?
Write a two-paragraph essay comparing and contrasting your actual
bedroom with your ultimate or ideal bedroom.
Paragraph 1: Describe your ideal/ultimate bedroom
Paragraph 2: Compare and contrast actual & ideal bedroom using:
 the comparative
(más+adj.+que or menos + adj.+que)

the superlative
(el mejor, el peor, etc.)
Blue day: March 2nd
White Day: March 5th
Your essay should include and will be graded on the following:
Paragraph #1
 Using the verbs tener and estar to describe what items are in the
room and where they are located
 Include a minimum of seven different pieces of furniture/electronics
from the chapter.
 Use of five different colors
 Use of prepositional phrases (a la izquierda o a la derecha)
 Sentence structure and grammar and vocabulary usage.

 Use of the comparative and superlative—a minimum of three
comparative statements
 Use of the verb ser and tener
 Sentence structure and grammar and vocabulary usage.

Interactive Presentation
The interactive presentation will be created after completing the
essay portion of the assignment. The presentation will be completed
using glogster, an online poster making website, in class. We will be
working on the poster in the computer lab on:
Blue Day: March 6th
White Day: March 7th
The interactive presentation will incorporate audio, recorded using
google voice, and photos to illustrate your ideal bedroom.
Speaking
You will use the essay you have written and create a presentation for your
ultimate bedroom. The description of the bedroom should match the
visuals that have been chosen for ultimate bedroom. Photos, of the
furniture in your ultimate bedroom will appear on the glog for your
interactive presentation. You may choose to draw these photos yourself
or you may choose to use pictures from the Internet. If you choose to
draw the images by hand they will need to be scanned so that you have
a digital copy of each individual photo. You must also turn in a reference
page, citing the origin of the photos.
Glog
The glog will be created in class. In order to complete the glog you must
bring your pre-approved pictures to school. The pictures should be saved
to a flash drive or memory card. There will not be any time to search for
pictures at school.
In order to create a glog you must have the following items completed:




Completed two paragraph essay
Left a message using google voice
Completed the google voice message slip
Submitted photos for approval
*Once you have completed each of these items you will be provided with a
glogster account that can be used to work on the project.
Before the day in the computer lab, ask yourself the following questions:
 Did I locate all of the pictures I need for my presentation and
save them on a flash drive/memory card?
 Did I incorporate color into my presentation?

 Did I type up and print my references for my pictures?
