Welcome back to the 2015-2016 school year. I am Michael Pearcy and will be teaching
6th and 7th grade social studies and 6th grade math this school year. I am from
Erlanger, Kentucky. I graduated from Lloyd Memorial High School in 2009, and then
Northern Kentucky University in 2014 with a Bachelor degree in Middle Grade Math and
Social Studies Education. This is my second year teaching at Williamstown Jr. Sr. High.
At home I have an amazing beagle named Matilda, I also have my wonderful wife,
Brandy, of four years; in December we will celebrate our fourth wedding anniversary.
Brandy and will be graduating this year from Northern Kentucky University with a
Bachelor degree in Elementary Education. As you can see, education is a big part of my
life and I will do what I can to help my students succeed in my classroom and life.
Units to be covered this year: This year we will be using the TCI History Alive! The
Ancient World textbook. With this book we will have 7 units:
1.) Early Humans and the Rise of Civilization
2.) Ancient Egypt and the Middle East
3.) Ancient India
4.) Ancient China
5.) Ancient Greece
6.) Ancient Rome
7.) The Middle ages
8.) World Religions (this is a recent change. It is to allow us to go more in-depth with
the connections of the regions to each other and the building of the world's
civilizations.)

following items:

Class activities and homework: 10%
Quizzes and projects: 10%

I will be utilizing several different forms of communication this year to keep parents
informed.



Remind: This is a texting service where I will be sending out messages to all who
sign up about upcoming tests, activities, homework and other assignments. I will
have the same account for all my 7th grade classes.
To sign up for my remind text: @pearcy7 to: 81010.
Class Dojo: This is a classroom management tool where students will earn
positive and negative points. This WILL NOT count towards the student's class
grade at all. You will be able to sign up for a Class Dojo account where you will
be able to keep track of these points and even email me through the site with
any question, comments, or concerns. Each student will receive an individualized
parent involvement sheet with a code to link up to the student’s personal Class
Dojo.
Additional events, recourses, and misalliance information will also be kept on my
class website. You can find this on the school website.
Classroom rules: In my room there are two rules that I feel cover everything:
1. Be respectful
2. Be responsible
