CLIL: CONTENT & LANGUAGE INTEGRATED LEARNING FOR UNIVERSITIES Course Dates: 18 - 31 August 2013 (2 weeks) Course Location: Gediz University in Izmir/ Turkey Course Code: CLU Course Fee: $ 850 or TL 1550 Target audience ● Teachers who deliver language courses at tertiary/ academic level and would like to or need to branch out into CLIL ● Teachers who hope to deliver courses at tertiary/ academic level with a CLIL component ● Teachers interested in pre-sessional / prep courses with a CLIL component ● Teachers who teach content subjects and now will have to deliver their courses in English ● Teachers who have some experience teaching through CLIL and/or if they find that the time you put into developing materials is not providing the returns you expected ● Native and non-native teachers with C1+ level of English and above Course summary The aim of this course is to help you gain expertise and confidence in your ability to deliver CLIL courses in English at tertiary level. This course is essentially a methodology course. It will not be subject specific but will work on language, skills and tools that are needed to deliver a state of the art CLIL course. Participants will be encouraged to develop materials on a topic related to their teaching subject, so that they can focus on their specific needs. This course will give you an opportunity to become familiar and/or widen the range of materials and techniques which can used in an academic CLIL course. It will offer you a range of options for teaching and will encourage to develop your own ideas. It will also offer a platform to 1 exchange ideas and become familiar with recently published materials and available on-line resources. This is a vital to many activities during the course. They should also become familiar with the recommended reading and send a brief summary outlining their hopes and objectives as a result of attending this course.
