ALTERNATIVE PLACEMENT FOR OUSD
STUDENTS 17 and under:
If you are an out of district or a charter school student, we need your transcript, immunization record and birth certificate.
Students can enroll in alternative education by:
1.
Meet with Ms. McGee on Tues or Thurs from
9am to 11am. Students must have a parent or guardian present.
2.
Meet with a school administrator or counselor at the student’s current school site.
Students must have a parent or guardian present.
3.
Call Ms. McGee at (510) 273-1621 to make an appointment.
Continuation School
In order to enroll in Bunche, Dewey or Rusdale :
You must be at least 17 years old.
If you are an out of district or a charter school student, we need your transcript, immunization record and birth certificate.
You need at least two full years of high school and between 100 and 155 credits at the beginning of 12 th grade and 40 to 90 credits by the beginning of 11 th grade.
In order to receive and exemption to be able to attend adult school, you must meet one of the following requirements:
17.5 years old and working
Pregnant or parenting minor
Emancipated minor
You must show proof of:
Employment (recent pay stub or a letter from employer)
Pregnancy (letter from doctor’s office)
Parenting (your baby’s birth certificate)
Emancipation (your emancipation papers; not necessary for parent/guardian to attend meeting if you are emancipated)
If you are an out of district or a charter school student, we need your transcript.
Sojourner Truth Independent Study Program
If you are in grades 6-12, you must write a two-page essay on the following topics:
Why I want to be in the independent study program
Why I will be successful in the independent study program
Why education is important
What I want to do with my life when I complete my application
Cal-SAFE Program
You must be a pregnant or parenting minor.
You must show proof of:
Pregnancy (document from doctor’s office)
Parenting (your baby’s birth certificate)
Home and Hospital
Requirement is a document from your doctor stating why you need home/hospital instruction and the length of time.
