The Philosophy: To do the very best job teaching
the owners/handlers how to develop their dog
using positive training methods to reinforce
desired behaviors and operant conditioning to
ensure the dog understands the process.
AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy℠ Class
There are 20 steps to complete the program successfully
under the headings of Socialization, Training, Activity, and
Responsibility. This is a fun program for you and your puppy
and is an excellent beginning for your first puppy.

To offer classes starting each week to fit the
timing needs of the owner/handler and the dog,
and recognizing some teams will achieve in a
couple weeks what may take others a couple of
months.
First Obedience / Canine Good Citizen℠, (CGC)
This class provides a wonderful opportunity to develop your
relationship with your dog and can result in the ability to pass
a CGC evaluation (last day of class). It also covers the normal
obedience cues, and prepares the dog for therapy work
testing.

To help minimize dogs being turned over to the
Animal Control/Humane Society or abandoned
along a road because of the dog’s bad behavior
from lack of obedience training, my classes are
offered by donations so any person can access top
quality training. I gratefully accept donations to
help defray the costs of providing the facility and
training. Please learn how to teach your dog to
live with you in human society. I also teach
Intermediate & Advanced Obedience classes.
Behavior Changes
Most social problems ranging from aggression to anxiety to
house soiling are changed into acceptable social behavior.
These sessions frequently start in small sessions followed
with group work.

I take continuing education classes and am a
member of the APDT professional organization for
awareness of the latest training information. I am
approved by the American Kennel Club to test
dogs for Canine Good Citizen and S.T.A.R. Puppy
program and I am approved by the Association of
Pet Dog Trainers to test dogs at all levels for their
Canine Life And Social Skills, C.L.A.S.S., Program.
Training should be fun for you and your dog.
APDT’s C.L.A.S.S.™ for Dogs
APDT’s Canine Life and Social Skills is open to all dogs;
however, evaluations for degrees must be on dogs 4 months
or older. Handlers may be 12 to 18 years with parental
supervision. The program awards the degrees of B.A.,
through M.A. and Ph.D. as the skill and social control of the
dog increases.
Tracking
$10 per class
Tracking builds the team skills to follow where a human has
traveled some time earlier and recover lost articles. Training
is in various outdoor locations in most weather on leash. This
training builds trust in your dog and your ability to
understand his/her communication with you.

$5/dog

My dogs have competed in trials and received
titles from independent judges proving that they
received appropriate training. I believe that you
should demonstrate that you can do the job
before you try and teach others.
Intermediate and Advanced Obedience Classes
These classes provide formal training for off-leash work and
advanced distance work. They require a sound foundation in
obedience and excellent behavior.

All instruction/evaluation is provided by Keith Michael with more
than 15 years experience training dogs of all types, Bachelors
degree in Education, PhD, member of Association of Pet Dog
Trainers, APDT, Certified Dog Trainer by Animal Behavior College,
ABCDT, in positive methods, is an AKC CGC evaluator/trainer and
an AKC S.T.A.R. puppy trainer/evaluator, and is an APDT C.L.A.S.S.
trainer/evaluator, and has considerable experience in working with
shelter dogs and other problem dogs.

TopDog Class Registration: Classes may be limited to 6 teams for
individual attention and may be divided into small dogs (30 pounds
or less) and large dogs. Please register early. All obedience classes
are in a large air conditioned building with rubber matted flooring.
