APA Handbook of Sexuality and Psychology (Coming October 2013)
Editors-in-Chief: Deborah L. Tolman, EdD, and Lisa M. Diamond, PhD
The APA Handbook on Sexuality and Psychology marks a turning point in the status of sexuality
within the discipline of psychology. This comprehensive, two-volume handbook provides an
overarching review of current empirical research on sexuality and a synthesis of the dominant
theoretical perspectives that have guided both research and clinical practice. An organizing
current throughout the volume is the integration of individual experience and social/cultural
context across every domain of sexuality. This dual emphasis on person and context is reflected
in the structure of the handbook itself.
PsycEXTRA® Now Includes Even More Robust Indexing
Recently, APA embarked upon a data enhancement program for its PsycEXTRA database.
Several key content upgrades were featured, including:

The addition of a Tests & Measures field, including test DOIs, matching what is currently
found in PsycINFO. This allows users who also subscribe to PsycTESTS to link directly
to the test record and indexing details in PsycTESTS.

Grant data has been fielded to match PsycINFO, which allows mutual subscribers to
track grant and sponsorship data across databases. Over 9,500 PsycEXTRA records
currently contain grant/sponsorship data.

DOIs for all of the nearly 300,000 PsycEXTRA records have been added.

Document Identifiers were added for clinical trials, patents, legislation, technical reports,
and some other types of documents, making it easier to track these on the web.

Media Type values, such as Audio, Video, and Interactive have been brought more in
line with actual content (e.g., Podcasts).
These enhancements to PsycEXTRA are now available through all 3 vendors currently offering
access to the database (APA, EBSCO, and Ovid).
