InterAC Forum Interaction and Acceleration of Research MINUTES Tuesday, August 25, 2015 Biotech Place, Rooms 155 A&B Business Topics: Laurie Molloy called the meeting to order at 4:00. There were no minutes ready to approve, so both the July and August minutes will be called for approval in the September meeting. Today’s meeting is a departure from the normal agenda’s with scientific presentations, and will be focused on the purchase and implementation of the iLab Solutions lab management software for shared resources and cores. Reminders: Deadline for Emerging Center Letters of Intent are due to Laurie Molloy on Monday, 8/31/15. King Li provided an update on the CTSA award that was received on August 13th. The first year was shortened to 7 months, so there will be a lot to accomplish in a short period. Watch the BRSA website for updates. http://brsa.wakehealth.edu/ Presentation: iLab Solutions Software Overview and Implementation Plan Laurie Molloy started the presentation with an overview of lab management systems (LMS), what it is, why it is needed, and the benefits of having a LMS; then transitioned to the selection of iLab Solutions as the WFBMC LMS provider. Kevin Brewer introduced the WFBMC team that will be supporting the implementation of the software from ITS and NRC. Because of their experience and expertise using the software for two years, Ben Harrison and Tom Eaton from WFIRM will also be helping the implementation team. After the overview, Jessie Brown, the Customer Partnership Manager at iLab Solutions provided a demo of the software, highlighting various screens and processes. As the implementation phases begin, each group of labs will walk through the demo again and start designing their specific workflows and options associated with each screen. The Shared Resource/Core laboratories will be integrated in phases. Since the WFIRM core labs are already using the software, Phase 1 will be adding the front-end authentication software and the backend interface with PeopleSoft Financials for their labs. Phase 2 will include the first set of three cores, yet to finalized, followed by Phases 3 & 4 which will each include three cores. Each phase is expected to take 8-12 weeks from kick-off through go-live; with the four phases complete by July 2016. Additional cores will be added to the system in fiscal year 2017.
