The Position There are two (2) current full-time vacancies in the Energy Delivery Division of the Public Utilities Department. Positions designated as Non-Classified (NC) are exempt from the classified service. The Incumbent shall be appointed "at-will" and serve at the pleasure of the City Manager. Utilities Senior Electrical Engineer (Non-Classified) Under general supervision, to perform supervisory and professional electrical engineering work in the design, investigation and construction of electric utility projects; and to do related work as required. As incumbents progress through this job series, projects become considerably more technically demanding and may involve direct supervisory responsibilities and duties. Principal Engineer (Non-Classified) Under general direction, to plan, assign, supervise and review professional electrical engineering work; to assist the division head in developing and carrying out policies and programs; and to do related work as required. Minimum Qualifications Utilities Senior Electrical Engineer (Non-Classified) Education: Graduation with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from a college or university with an accredited four or five year degree program in electrical engineering. A bachelor’s degree in civil or mechanical engineering from a college or university with an accredited four or five year degree program and two additional years of experience doing professional electric utility engineering can substitute for an electrical engineering degree. The completion of post-graduate courses related to electric utility engineering is highly desirable. Registration as a Professional Engineer cannot substitute for the required education. Experience: Four comparable to that Utility. Registration required as a years of experience in professional electric utility engineering work of Utilities Associate Electrical Engineer in the City of Riverside Electric in California as a Professional Engineer is highly desirable or may be matter of law, depending of the assigned responsibilities. Possession of an appropriate, valid Class "C" California Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Desired Qualifications - Utilities Senior Electrical Engineer (Non-Classified) Five years of experience in the performance of engineering work in the area of transmission, substation, telecommunications and/or distribution engineering, including supervisory experience. Three years of experience in managing utility infrastructure projects. Possession of Engineer-in-Training certificate. Principal Engineer (Non-Classified) Education: Graduation with a Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering from a college or university with an accredited four or five year degree program in electrical engineering. A Bachelor's Degree in civil or mechanical engineering from a college or university with an accredited four or five year degree program and two additional years’ experience doing professional electrical utility engineering can substitute for an electrical engineering degree. Registration as a Professional Engineer cannot substitute for the required education. Experience: Three years' experience in professional electric utility engineering work comparable to that of a Senior Electrical Engineer in the City of Riverside Electric Utility. Possession of an appropriate, valid class "C" California Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Desired Qualifications - Principal Engineer (Non-Classified) The completion of post-graduate courses related to power engineering. A Master's Degree in Business Administration Five years' experience in the performance of professional engineering work in the area of assignment including some supervisory experience.
