EDUCATION: Wellingborough High School for Girls, gaining: Eight ‘O’ levels and three ‘A’ levels in Art and Art & Architecture, English. Coventry College of Education studying Art and Sculpture. Worked as a screen print designer in industry. Whilst bringing up the family I trained Part time at Loughborough to teach adults and then two years part time, at Northampton, under the auspices of Leicester University gaining an FHE Diploma. I then taught in Adult Education for a long time, including at Leicester University, Wellington Street. At the same time helping to run a business with my husband, doing the office work. After the children went to University I spent four years part time at Tresham College, studying Textile Design & Embroidery, where I was re-introduced to printmaking. I then continued my design studies with John Allen at Waterloo for two years, attending on one day a month. I have continued to pursue Printmaking at West Dean College, Curwen Print and various other Print Studios. I am a member of our local Fellowship of Professional and Amateur Artists and was recently elected to Northampton Town and County Art Society, which is my county society. I have belonged to the Printmakers Council since 2009 and have exhibited widely with them. In July of this year I co-founded the Swan Group of Artists which has already had two successful Open Studio weekends and has three exhibitions lined up for next year, one in Northamptonshire and two in Norfolk. I took a very early retirement and devote most of my time to my artwork in my dedicated studio, which is equipped with a mangle doubling as an etching press and a small relief press. My piece of heaven on earth!
