The Art of William Glackens At Hershey’s Mill Thursdays, November 6, 13, 20, 2014 1-3 pm Saturday, November 15, 2014, 10 am: William Glackens at the Barnes Foundation Course Description This three-session course explores the work of William Glackens, one of the most influential artists in America during the first decades of the 20th century. The course traces Glackens’ career from the mid-1890s to the 1930s, his achievements as a member of The Eight, and his adaptation of visual ideas from Manet, Renoir, and Matisse. The exhibit, William Glackens, coorganized by the Museum of Art/Fort Lauderdale, The Barnes Foundation, and the Parrish Art Museum, will provide 100 works from leading museums and private collections across the U.S. for first-hand study.
