CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRIST CLINICIAN EDUCATOR FACULTY LINE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHIATRY AND BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES AUTISM AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES CLINIC STANFORD UNIVERSITY The Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Stanford University is offering a one-year position for a child psychiatrist interested in gaining specialized expertise in clinical care of families and children/adolescents with autism spectrum disorder and developmental disabilities. The goal is to provide mentorship focused on development of advanced clinical skills in the diagnosis, assessment and treatment of this population, including the use of gold-standard diagnostic instruments and commonly used behavioral and pharmacological interventions. Mentorship will be provided by core psychiatry and psychology faculty within the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Clinic, overseen by Clinic Director, Antonio Hardan, M.D. Clinical and research elective time will be available. Involvement in active clinical research projects and completion of a scholarly project during the year are strongly encouraged. Membership in the Stanford Autism Center at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford also provides exposure to a wide range of scholarly and community outreach activities including campus-wide research and clinical working groups, parent education and support activities, as well as an annual research update conference. Upon completion of this one-year position, the expectation is that the child psychiatrist will have expertise to further disseminate evidence-based practices in ASD to new academic and community settings. Academic appointment will be for 1 year as a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. The fellowship is designed to provide advanced training in the clinical care of families and children with autism spectrum disorders including diagnostic assessment, behavioral treatment and parent training practices. The position includes experience conducting multi-disciplinary diagnostic assessments using gold-standard instruments as well as providing evidence-based therapies and parent training including Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT).
